I never bought the booklet. I actually purchased the video and got the gimmicks later on so I don't know the number of cards it comes with. I can tell you this though, I have performed this effect weekly at my restaurant gigs and it goes over quite well. There are a couple of fine points that Doc goes over on the video that you might want to get the video instead. Also there are some fine points that I have encountered through the years. Including someone turning over a card. Hate when that happens.

Definately get the Doc Eason videos. His handling is very nice and this is one of the strongest effects I have ever seen. If you don't get screams from this one, you're performing for dead people.

Is there another source apart from the Eason videos?

Anniversary Salsa performed by Shoot is actually on cultural vol. 1
Doc Eason has the original version on his DVDs, and also Darwin Ortiz has a version in Scams and Fantasies but I forgot whats its called. Darwin uses a table for his version and his effect is that one card dissappears instead of them melting together. All 3 versions are great, but they are all slightly different. |

It's a GREAT routine to use at a wedding. If you're competent with cards, it won't take you long to get a great routine.
As others have already mentioned, get the Doc Eason video/DVD, and see him perform it. I saw him do it live and it KILLED! Kind regards Mike |

You can buy a gaffed deck with 52 of the gimicked cards for about eight bucks. I would agree that the trick is well worth doing.

2 things:
Darwin's effect is that they "fused", but he reveals it in a two-part revelation. First, he reveals that there is only one card on the table, and then reveals that they fused. In the introduction, the lady that comes up to him refers to the effect as "the one where they fused together", which plainly tells you what the effect is to spectators. Secondly, usually there are a bunch of junk cards in a standard deck of gimicked cards for this... A minor point, but I think you get more like 35 usable gaffs per deck, and not 52. At least the ones I've been buying, some are blank backed, some have the same card, some are court cards that are less visual for this effect, ect. |

I think there is booklet on the trick printed by I Frank Evanhart I believe he is credited by doc eason...It is an incredible effect...especially for weddings or engagements or even a first date...It works wonders with women.
No matter How much you know you can never stop learning.

Don't do this effect....ITS TERRIBLE.....I NEVER get a good responce.....dont do the trick.....no one should do it!!!!
then again...i think I'm just being selfish....trying to lead people away from this effect..... I don't think you will understand the emotional response you will get from this one trick....WOW....talk about a closer.. Shoots Salsa is good too ...BUT...it lacks the emotional connection that is made with the spectators....which sells the effect.
-Truth is made up of two things... FACT... and the ability to believe it-

This is one of the great "worker" closeup card routines. Not a difficult routine and usually plays very well with a couple, especially on their anniversary (as the name implies).

I am enclosing an alternative handling in the book now. This is a Killer trick first published by Chris Carter in a Linking Ring Parade, with roots in a Wesley James trick and a Meir Yedid thing... do a search on this trick here in the Café and you will find some more thoughts in a different thread.

I just purchased Anniversary Waltz booklet a few weeks ago. At first I looked at it and thought it was too complex. Then a week later I really read it and tried it out. It's a beautiful thing. If you are looking to impress a couple this is it. It's easy to perform and will knock their socks off.
There is a lot of room for comedy and patter as well. I ran it thru a few tables at a restuarant I was working one week and get a great response. John Cesta |
