This maybe so, but it would surely be of help if you concluded 'deus sum'??!
Shame you have to wait so long. Consider a scratch card or mid-week lottery instead to decide your fate. Regards, Kris Sheglova

Many effects as well as scientific discoveries are made at similar times. This is based on the fact that the "group" has certain history of knowledge which is used to create the existing discovery. French inventors created a flying plane at the same time the Wright Brothers were, etc.
Some choose not to publish but when the effect is made public, for sure someone will figure it out based on existing knowledge. Even if it isn't shown publicly, it may well be created by another using your exact same techniques because of the principal at play. True, one might get lucky and goes a lifetime without anyone getting the real solution, but the odds are against it. Therefore, one should publish (get the credit and some cash) and then let others build on it. This is what growth is all about. Of course I have some that I will never reveal so my logic may be flawed somewhere. |

haha.... this is very interesting... esp the period when there was a slight 'war' with shimi and the others. there are MANY methods of spoon bending, and the reason why they are called spoon bending is for one purpose and one effect. THE SPOON BENDS! so a different version could have been seen with a very similar effect. hehe... What's the big fuss?

No big fuss
This is a very old method. It was done by many others many years ago. No war, just the facts. Many magicians are new to mentalisem and new to spoon bending. They have not seen spoon bending as they have seen a lot of cards that jumps to the top of the deck. Chad told me that he sold a lot of tapes because of what I said. I happy for him. Shimi |

I'm not saying that Geller is real; my personal belief is that he is faking. What I'm saying is that it's not necessarily the wisest thing to pronounce as absolute fact that which you don't have a complete factual basis of proof for--especially if you've never even seen him do it in person!
There's a big difference between that and what you seem to think I'm saying, so I hope that makes my point a bit clearer. --A

Well said Andy.
There is a big difference between seeking scientific proof and postulating what we believe as a fact. Science does not impose a view point but rather seeks one in lieu of the evidence. And this evidence does not create absolute proof, it just increases the certainty value of a given scientific model. Popper said it well and much better. -Alain B e ll o n |

The spoon bending thing is so tired now. Im still amazed Uri gets away with it. we all need something new. Its got to the stage when ever I see any thing about spoon bending or key beding in the press or on TV it makes me cringe.
We need new ways of thinking in my opinion. I think the effect on Derren Browns TV show where the spectators are amazed at watching forks bend when in fact they weren't is much more powerful and much more interesting. Spoon bending is a cliche to be avoided now you look more and more like a magician. Only my opinion..Sorry guys! |

Is it something that your audience told you?
They don't like spoon bending anymore? I am not so sure about it. There is a lot of talking about the spoons in this forum but the people that see my shows ,don't read magic forums... Shimi |

When he first came on the scene spoon bending was new and fresh and caused a lot of excitement and controversy. That just isn't there anymore. We need something new to cause that same sensation. Over here the closet we've had is Derren Brown. But even he hasn't caused the same kind of reaction with the general public. The majority of lay people you ask don't know who he is. Of course I may be completely wrong and just a jaded "insider"...no offence meant but whenever I see metal bending the word trick jumps out of nowhere..but that could just be me |

It's just you
It's the person who bends the spoon makes it and not the spoon. For more then 10 years I have been doing what is called now the "Optical Bend" and no one said that this is a trick. They always love it and ask for it. Spoon bending+showmanship=very strong Spoon bending-showmanship=almost very strong. This is what I think about it ...but that could just be me (and my audience ) Shimi Ilusini |

I studied this video, and found the method to be a really awesome one. I do not know if I am performing the same as Chad is, but everyone is fooled to date.

Cutlery bending still inspires the imagination. Uri Geller has done a lot of the pre-work in convincing people its real, and they still believe it surprisingly enough. I have talked to a number of intelligent friends on the subject here are just a couple of replies concerning Uri Geller (I shall keep their identities anonymous, they are generally skeptics on all things psychic):
"Once a spoon bent in my hand while I watched Uri Geller" "When I watched him on TV he said to put a knife (odd) on top of the TV. Suddenly the knife flew off (!). I spoke to a friend and the same thing happened to her" So, although I don't do any bending myself it can be a real convincer. It is not associated with 'Magic' and thus pulls people away from the notion that they are being tricked during the show. I personally would like the more creative minds to come up with more variations on the same theme though. For example I think a soda can collapsing in a spectator's hand would be a great variation. Can someone come up with a bending 3/4 inch steel bar, or is cheap cutlery really the limit to metal bending? Regards, Kris Sheglova

I think it's great that this thread is getting so much attention.
Get's you all to steer away from the real stuff magic is made of. a spoon bend is a spoon bend is a spoon bend. Nothing more. If you want to percieved as the next Spoon Bender go for it. I don't. I prefer to catch a bullet with my eyes closed. Yaniv Deautsch |

Which is much the same reaction it got from my layman friend. That said, many people seem to be getting a good response with it.

Do it twice and not 3 times and you will get better reactions.
Breake it down in time to hide what you need to hide. And go and thanks Geller... |

I think the clip loses a great deal because it misses out on the time delay necessary in all metal bending effects. Nobody should need that explained - but who wants a four minute clip? It's all in the presentation, isn't it?
