Thanks, Dan, I think you have a grasp on what we are trying to do here. I'm not trying to do a magic show with this act (though from time to time a still do a magic only or mentalism show without the band).
I'm trying to make magic happen on stage without stopping the music or pulling out "props". The magic is to support the music (mostly original... a Blend of New Age, progressive rock, and world music such as Celtic, Latin, African , Indian, etc.) You can hear some of it and even download a few songs free at http://www.ReelsMusic.com I may consider gimmicked instruments that can't actually be played, but I'll have to switch them at some point. Thinking of adding some Bl**K A** areas on stage to aid in this, that would be hidden among the various stands, and amps etc. Again thanks everyone and keep those ideas coming.

Thanks, Kyle, I'm strongly considering releasing some royalty-free music for magicians. I've got some stuff that I used in my magic shows that was never released on CD.

Alice Cooper did the best impaled I've ever seen. He had an argument with his guitarist onstage and told him he sucked or something, so the guitar player got ****ed, and when Alice turned his back the guitarist rammed a microphone stand through his back. Alice proceeded to play the next song with a mic stang coming out of his stomach.

You can thank Franz Harary for that too. For Alice Cooper he did the mic impalement, the monster robot (vampire illusion), the head chopper and some other stuff I'm probably forgetting.

I had an idea a while back for an appearing guitar. The Magi opens a guitar case and shows it empty. He closes it again and then reopens it. A guitar has appeared. It can be taken out and shown from all sides, but I don't think it could be played.
Just an idea. Cheers. Mr NZ Magican Maybe use IT to make a levitating sheet of music.

Not really input about particular effects, but....
I thought of combining magic and music a while back. I'm not a musician, but I still thought it would be fun for some reason. Anyway, I came up with the perfect title for it: Mugician (pronounced meyoo-jish-in). A combination of musician and magician, obviously. Feel free to use it. Andy |

Interesting topic, I've been thinking on similar lines.
Now I just have to work out how to turn my guitar into my ukelele. Without damaging a couple of thousand dollars worth of instrument. That's an expensive uke! |

I've been toying with the idea of doing Andrew Mayne's "Broomflight" with an electric guitar instead of a broom...

Mito, that gives me another idea! (wow that's two ideas this month I'm way over my quota)
Broomflight done with a guitar using the Fearson's box idea without the box. Set the Fearson's gimmick up to work between guitar and mic stands. That way the cloth on the guitar doesn't have to go all of the way to the ground.
