I came home the other day to find Rik Brook’s leather mini chop cup sitting on my porch. This has got to be one of the finest hand made chop cups I have ever seen!
I don’t believe anything currently on the market even comes close! It is made entirely by hand out of thick premium grade leather. The inside is lined with buttery soft upholstery leather - the kind you would expect to find in a high end luxury car. The positioning of a certain “something” has been carefully thought out, allowing you to show the ball in the cup under the closest bit of scrutiny. On the outside you will find lacing of the same highest quality. To top it off, the outside is beautifully decorated in Sheridan style carvings. This is one of Rik’s labor of love. He will be retailing it for $75, but I have talked him into giving the Café members a discount. If you mention my name he'll reduce the price to $50 per cup. Considering each one is hand made, and no two will be alike, this is a steal! You can see it being displayed at Bill Palmer’s Cups and Balls Museum (http://www.cupsandballsmuseum.com/chopcupsdu.htm). You can contact Rik via The Café. Remember - Tell him David sent ya!
Your choices in life can be compared to watching a magic trick: You can continue to believe the illusion in front of you, find the intrigue and desire to learn more, or quit paying attention the moment you feel deceived.

I loved this little chop cup so much that I ordered another one just to set aside. It is very elegant looking, unique and clearly created to last a lifetime at least. I found some small leather baseballs to use as final loads that just happen to fit the cup perfectly!

My father gave me a hand tooled belt the day before I shipped out for Vietnam. I still wear that belt today! That tells me two things, good leather lasts a lifetime and, I have to keep up my hour a day of workouts to keep that belt fitting me. That was thirty years ago and I still wear the same belt.
The tooling on the belt is still great even though the thing takes a lot more beating than a chop cup ever will! |

The only problem is that the package included only the cup and the instructions. I tried to follow the links in the instructions but luck (www.texasmob.com/chopcupperformance.asf nor http://www.texasmob.com/chopcupperformance.zip). I am working through my own routine using your chop cup but I would love to see your performance. I found a video of you performing the Benson Bowl on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FG1tUbbFl_0). Really nice cup! Excellent construction!
