I recently purchased a Viking set of peerless boxes and came up with a routine that the couple of people I've shown it to have really enjoyed. (I'm sure that Mr. Townsend will cite the correct origin of the routine from "Druidic Rituals: A Guide to Entertaining" circa 237 BC. Smile )

I use the Coin Fold routine from Bobo's with flash paper for the vanish. Going to your pocket for a lighter is great cover to do what you need to do. I return the lighter to the opposite pocket then retrieve the boxes from the pocket where the lighter originally resided. This might seem overkill. But if the last pocket they see your hand going into is different than the one from which you produce the boxes, I think it strengthens the routine.

When they almost need a pry bar to open the boxes and their signed coin is in the fourth one they open, the reactions are pretty strong.

I think this is an excellent idea, especially because it lengthens the period of time between when the boxes are loaded and the time the boxes are produced. The two-pocket idea is also good. Some creative thinking there, Scott!

My only suggestion is to make sure to do this effect over a table or a counter. If one of those box lids or bottoms gets dropped on the floor and dinged, they won't nest too nicely anymore.

By the way, I'm pretty sure the "Druidic Rituals" source is wrong -- I think there were some engravings in an Egyptian temple showing this concept. <grin> SETH

Seth,

Good suggestion about opening them over a table or counter. They're really nice and I'd hate to see them get beat up. The largest box was pretty tarnished, but I used the Never-Dull that Viking recommended to polish it up and they look great.
