Where can I find instructions to get a rope with a few inches of different colored rope? Aldo Colombini used such a rope for his effect Mamma Mia.
Thanks, Me |

Hi:
Aldo Colombini sells an effect called "Knotty Knot" which is exactly what you describe - a length of rope with about a 4 inch section of red. You can buy it many places, but go to http://www.elmwoodmagic.com and you can see an on-line demo of it. I hope this helps you. Ron |

Or even Meir Yedid magic. I think it is one of their releases, though Aldo's routine.

Although, I already know how the effect works I just need the rope. Do the instructions show how to make a knotty knot rope?
Thanks, Me |

Have you played around with any dyes yet? I considered making some similar ropes up a while back. I did a little research at various craft/hobby/art supply stores and found many types of fabric dyes (so that the rope will still be supple after it dries).
I posed various questions to the employees regarding dyeing ropes (more specifically - how much [if any] of a "wicking" effect might happen with the ropes). Obviously, you will want to be able to control just how far (how many inches) of the rope takes on the dye. The store employees couldn't really give me solid answers since none of them (and pretty much NONE of their typical customers) have ever attempted to dye rope. I could have bought some stuff, but it would have been a slight gamble (probably would have worked though). Cheers, Wes |
