Does anyone know where I can get a hold of P & A Silks? They are out of New York. The phone number on their web site is disconnected. Peter and Cynthia White are the owners.

Please help

Thank you

It's funny you should ask because I would like to find out what happened with them as well. (Although I know Denny & Lee's in Maryland list P&A silks on their website.) I has attempted to call several times but no response. I had also sent a few e-mails and also no response. And recently I received an e-mail from them which in part read, "This is a reminder, sent out once a month, about your pasilks.com mailing list memberships. It includes your subscription info and how to use it to change it or unsubscribe from a list."

Hopefully, someone has some answers and advice as to how bets contact them.

Kyle, P&A silks used to be the premier place for silks both in quality and workmanship. Peter White, the owner, was a master craftsman in regards to silk and dove props. The last time I saw or heard from either Peter or his wife Cynthia was at Hank Lee's conclave in Boston last year.

Peter White is like a father to me… I just chatted on the phone with him today for over six hours! (We had a lot of catching up to do.)

Peter asked me to let you all know that Peter White is very much alive and well! And P&A Silks is very much in business. His current Phone Number is (518) 537-8749.
He would love to hear form you all. He will be at Hank Lee’s Conclave in April 2005.

I have always had a hard time getting a hold of Peter, just be persistent!

P.S. Tell Him Jason and Aldora sent you!

Jason, I have one thing to say to you: THANKS!!! I have been trying for the longest to get in touch with Peter White. I just got off the phone with him and placed an order for a few things. And I will take a drive up there in a month or so for a day trip. He invited me and a couple of other magicians he knows to go up there for the day. Thanks again, Jason! The phone number helped!

Jimmy, Pick up a set of Pete's silk tapes if you do not have them. Good material but less than stellar production but still worth the price.

Tell my buddy Pete and Cynthia, I said hi.

I ordered all seven tapes, Richard. I had viewed two of them at a friend's house. Peter gave me a deal on all seven that I just couldn't resist.

Peter is a plethora of information regarding silk magic. When I was building a silk opener for my show, Peter was a great help. His silks are also the sturdiest and best quality. While Silk King also produces a good product and I own some of their silks, it is the P&A silks that make it into my show.

Carlo,

The SKS products are beautiful things. However, I do not use them in my shows because of the fear that there will be no more of them. They are collectors' items already.

I do use several of the P&A (Peter White's) products because I have been under the impression that I can always get more. That may not be true either! I hope it is. P&As are really quality products too.

Good magic and magic props are very collectable. I enjoyed getting to see some of Jim Webb's collection this weekend at Eureka Springs. It was really nice of him to share them with us. People like Jim serve a very special need in the preservation of magic history.

In a few days, I will be sixty. It is unreal what has disappeared from availability in my forty-somethng years of magic. My Rings N Things props have been real workhorses for me and still look great. But the originals are no longer available. I wish I had bought some and never opened them. RRII items are available now. History will likely repeat itself. Stash away what you can. Rethink using your Rice silks. It may be an expensive choice in the long run.

Enjoy your magic!

Thank you for the kind comments about Silk King Studios silks. Many of my customers have expressed the dilema that Bob has mentioned. A solution for many is sending me an email about purchasing slightly irregular silks. I often have slightly irregular silks that I discount substantially. I want magicians to know if there is an irregularity, and exactly what the issue is, before I sell them a silk. This is easy to do at a convention where the silk may be examined, but not by mail. That's why I like to communicate personally with the customer about these silks. These irregularities will not affect the service of the silk and they are not noticeable to the audience. Since some folks are buying our silks to frame or as collector’s items, I would want a magician to know of a slight irregularity before offering a discount.
