Any suggestions on how to lubricate the zipper of a change bag without staining the fabric or having your fingers slide off the zipper?

Maybe a little beeswax. Good for stuck things.

My favorite dry cleaning establishment gives away a small stick of paraffin wax which you simply rub over the zipper ends. It is packaged like a crayon. The same wax is sold in blocks to use as sealing wax for jellies and the like. Another good alternative is a candle. Even a birthday candle will work. In a pinch, I have used a chapstick in a similar manner. But with this you must be more careful because it does contain some mineral oil. The trick is to coat only the metal (or nylon) and not overdo it. Finally, blocks of special wax are sold by skiing supply companies to coat the bottoms of the skis. I am sure they would work but I don't know how many ski dealers you have in Long Beach.

WD-40. just try applying it to a cloth first if your worried about mess. also, just a little petroleum jelly or something. Put it in the zipper, and then slide it back and forth.

Try a wax candle.

Go with the wax candle if you can, in a pinch, you can use BAR soap- just a little rubbed on the teeth

Beeswax, it's what you use on a diving suit zipper (not something you want to get stuck in for too long!)

On a diving suit, you will be in water keeping things cool. Beeswax, when warmed, by lights, sun or hands, gets...sticky, tacky. Just be aware of this. Parrafin- a petroleum byproduct, does not get so sticky.

The ladies are always right. Candle wax should be part of every repair kit.

Some day I'm going to have to write a book:

"Everything I Know about Stage Survival I Learned from Showgirls"
or "Stagemanship E911"

They also taught me to put clear fingernail polish on a metal zipper that keeps sliding down. (If that won't save your show, nothing will!)

For my next item, I will teach you how to make costumes with a stapler and a hot glue gun!

Are you stapling and gluing while people are wearing their costume? (evil grin)

Just go back stage at any Science Fiction convention and see what I mean!

Kay,

I raised two kids without their mother. As Mr. Mom, I stapled a lot of hems. I hope the kids get adjusted as adults!

Please keep us patched up and on stage. There're groceries to buy!

These days of colored staples in anodized aluminum, it might be seen as a fashion statement if done right! OO and do not forget that the sharpest crease in fabric is not done with starch, but rather a thin line of Elmer's white glue on the inside, and pressed with the iron! You can almost cut bread with those creases! Uniform costumers!
