In the ideal world a coin bend would look like a is coin placed on the table and starts to visibly curl upwards, you're not touching it and it's seen to move. What's the closest thing there is to the ideal?
Sankey's TV bend for me is the best *visual* coin bend I've found. I do it with a UK fifty pence, and I've found if you put the pressure on the coin at an angle, as the bend happens the coin rotates a little. The end result is that the coin appears to fold back suddenly down the middle at 90 degrees. Is there any such thing as a bendable coin? A realistic looking rubber coin? Seems to me a couple of good switches could make that into a killer effect, provided the coin looked real enough of course. |

i have never seen one, but in Dunninger's Encyc. of Magic, he suggests using one that is flesh-colored on one side, so that you could hide it curled arpund your finger underneath your ring. it's a cool idea, but probably impractical in the real world.
Sankey's TV bend sounds interesting. Where can I find it? |

You can find Sankey's TV bend in his video Revolutionary Coin Magic which is a very good video.

I like Bill Tarr's "Worlds Most Dangerous Coin" it isn't as visual but is easy to make and do.
I don't think I've posted in this section yet. It's the only reason I dropped a line.

Kenton Knepper has an excellent coin bend (penny) in, I think it was "Enchanted Evening"
The penny appears to bend at the finger tips. Quite visual. and very easy to do. |

There used to be coin bending effect that was marketed that taught you how to make a bendable coin that could be really bent at the fingertips, with just a gentle rubbing motion.
The main problem with the effect is the switches they taught were ridiculous and angly, and also that after you bent the coin you had to switch it for a truely bent coin. The gimmicked coin also only lasted one performance and where time consuming to make so it wasn't so practicle. I must say the idea they used to make the coin bend is very clever and makes for the best visual bend as you really see all of a flat coin and then it just bends. If you only want to do it every once and awhile to really floor a skeptic its good. Maybe someone on here is familiar with the effect and can tell use who marketed it as my memory isn't there! Yeah was pricey, especially for what you got! I think the shop I worked in at the time sold them for about $50 if my mind is right. Wish I could remeber who marketed it and what it was called. I do recall that it came with a video and had some strange looking stickman on the packaging I think.

I think he said he just used a shim.
and bent it in a vice. I'm sure you could do the same, as long as you put cloth around the coin so you don't scratch it up as much when you use plyers to bend it. |

wrap a towel around a coin, put it in a vise anchored to a table and whack it with a hammer.
