One day I was in Las Vegas and someone just came up to me. and Told me to pick 4 numbers with 5 digits in each number. I said 3 numbers, he picked 1 number then I picked another set of 5 digits and his prediction matched to the sum of all 5 numbers. Anyone know how this is done?

I suspect this might have been some mentalism more than mathematics. I saw Derren Brown do an effect like this using a spectators chosen number, and revealing it with a magic square that added up to the number. I won't say how I think this is done, but did you write the number down?

It does sound similar to Derrens closing effect using a clipboard. It probably is the magic square, if is a classic that can be found in many books, check out paul daniels adult magic book, there is a good description in there for a though of number, though you need good maths to add up the remainding didgits

Quote: I didn't write it down myself but he wrote it down and I was next to him. So where can I find this effect?
