Peace my fellow mystics...
well, just thought I would share yet another one of my crazy anecdotes! Right around late last summer, I went to a Glass Museum located about 30 min from my town, with some comrades of mine...it was there that I was blessed to see a strikingly beautiful woman... she noticed me not, and I went about my way. On the way out I noticed a bulletin board which had the employess and their names on it...I just happened to see her name, "Marali..." (no Im not a stalker!!) Then, about 2 months ago, I was on a regular bus route, heading toward my Yoga class...(my usual ride was out of town)...it was while I was standing at that bus-stop for a week that I noticed the ever beautiful Marali come past my stop, oftentimes getting stuck at the red light...her eyes always straight ahead... she would come right before my bus landed, so I noticed that it was @45 min. past the hour everyday. Further, she was always heading toward the main highway which led to another city about 20 min. from my town... So, from this I summized that she worked in one town (30min. away) and lived in the other town (20 min. away). sooooooooo.....seeing her just the other dayI took advantage of my all too mundane observations...she was in a gas station, as was I. as she was leaving, I boldly pulled her aside, saying, "I get the feeling that you work in....and live in...boy that's a far drive!" She was totally baffled, and asked how did I know that, was I a psychic or what! Then, judging by her fancy car, fancy clothes...I told her about her nice big house, and her beloved cat (she had little hairs on her jacket...) by this time, though she was a bit creeped out, she was smiling at me in agreeance of what I "divined"... Then I said, "now Ive never met you before, but I feel that youre married, or engaged (diamond on her finger!), and your name begins with......"M-a.." She broke out in total laughter (thank goodness she was about my age, and thus a bit more accomadating lest Id be in jail!)...she then said yes, and her name was Marali...she said that's the most impressive thing she ever experienced and that she always believed in "that stuff." I told her those pyschics were all frauds, and we both laughed! I then briefly went on to tell her of the blessings of practicing Yoga...I had no intentions otherwise, but coincidentally she said she just started earlier that year...so I even got the credit for knowing that. She shook my hand and asked if I did that stuff for a living, I said "no, just when the oppurtunity presents itself!" Well, not looking for any kudos, just wanted to demonstrate how we can obtain info, many times many places...and just wait like a vulture awaits its prey to make good use of it! Pay attention to all you do, see, hear...the Witness wins everytime! Baba |

Wow .. I would -so- not try that around here, I'd get maced, slapped, kicked in the shins (or worse) and have the cops called on me.
Well, maybe not. But I'd be wary at least. The wonderful NorthEast. Nice deduction with the cat hair, reminded me of the observations of Sherlock Holmes, I read almost all the books when I was a teenager.
Just hanging out with the rest of my fellow dregs.

Okay, you prodded it out of me. Back in the Jurassic Period (actually about 1978) I was doing strolling magic at a bar in Greenfield, Michigan, working with the late, great Paul Huffaker. Every once in a while, we would double team a table, doing some two person mentalism, comedy magic and the like.
On a quiet evening, two ladies were sitting at a booth, nursing their drinks (actually, one of them was trying to bring the (*^# thing back to life!) when we approached. I did a short reading for the one lady and, fo no reason at all, blurted out, "It's a boy." She teared up and almost ran out of the place. her friend explained that the lady and her husband had been trying to have a child for five years and had been told that they were infertile by their family doctor. Paul and I both looked at her earnestly and said, "It will be a boy." They left a little while later. Two weeks or so, they came back in and hauled us away from the tables we were working. The lady who had been so upset was crying for happy. She had just returned from her OB/GYN's office with the news that she was about 4 weeks pregnant. The preliminary tests showed that there was a better than even chance that it was going to be a boy. Nine months later Paul Lee was brought into the world. The party soon after rocked the bar, believe me! How did we know? Beats me, but we were both dead sure about it. Lee Darrow, C.H.

Well, after getting her permission ( a MUST in my book), it took less than five seconds to get her to drop into trance - much to the amazement of the crowd that had gathered. By the time my shift was over, I had hypnotized seventeen people, all but one being of the female persuasion. It's a nasty job, but somebody;s got to do it! The key is to completely believe that it will work. It also helped that the first lady had seen me hypnotize a bunch of people, repeatedly, only days before, so she was thoroughly pre-conditioned to respond properly. For the rest of them, well, once they saw HER go under, it was all mob psychology from there! Thanks for asking! Lee Darrow, C.H.

Excellent story. It just shows how the domino effect works in hypnosis. Once you get the first one under, then they shall all sleep like babies.

Glad to help, my friend, but please! I am no Master (I reached the age of majority several decades ago - lol). I, too am but a seeker on the path (and those *&^# bludgers keep catching up with me every Quidditch match, too!).
Who says mentalists don't have a sense of humor. Maybe the sense of humor IS the Sixth Sense - is is that Non-Sense? Sorry, it's way past my bed time... Lee Darrow, C.H.

Okay Lee, last question...for now...
PLEASE tell us of the first time you placed someone under hypnosis...stage, formal or otherwise... were you a bit shocked, at first?....did you totally expect what occured? did you already have a plan to follow, or did you follow along with the given circumstances...i.e., go with the flow... anyone ever resist (ego) at first, then succumb after a little bit o' patter on your part? and, finally, has it been possible for you to put someone under on the spot (as in the case of stage hyp.) in a formal setting? if so, without given your personal details, what approach worked best for you? thanx ahead... First time was at a coffee house when I was in high school. A young lady that I knew asked me very nicely if I would and, after a rather prolonged progressive relaxation induction, she achieved a reasonably deep trance state (arm catalepsy, hand levitation and post hypnotic amnesia - short term - she recalled trance events by the end of the evening). The feeling was quite amazing, both for her and for me. I really was nervous, but did my best not to let it show and never let on that she was the first person I had ever hypnotized.
I ran into her a couple of years ago and her re-induction trigger STILL WORKED! after over 25 years!! I guess I did it correctly. Lee Darrow, C.H.
