Are there any good online sites with free instructions for balloon modelling? I've been asked to create some models at the party I’m doing this weekend. I've always been able to do dogs and giraffes, but that’s about it, and don't have time to get a book/dyd delivered.
Your help would be greatly appreciated on this matter. |

The big resource for balloon modellers is http://www.balloonhq.com
A list of models is at http://www.balloonhq.com/faq/SculptureNames.html Some people find it easiest to learn from others. There is a juggling convention at Birmingham University tomorrow. There will be balloon modellers there and possibly a workshop as well. If you indicate where in the country you live in posts such as this, you may get an offer from someone local to give you a hand. Having had a REALLY BAD incident with balloons a few years ago, I also highly recommend taking a course in the Heimlich Manuever - or better yet, the Red Cross First Aid program.
Kid, infant really, snatched the balloon from his sister, bit it, it popped and hi aspirated it (right down the airway). Breathing STOPPED in the middle of the restaurant. I gave the kid a Heimlich and the bit of balloon shot from his mouth and the crying commenced - him and the adults with him. fortunately, they were tears of gratitude, not fear. No litigation, but I'm sure you can all see the inherent problems with balloons. In fact, Max & Irma's has a national policy (which most stores completely ignore) that states, clearly, NO BALLOONS for that very reason (and no, my incident was at a private party at another restaurant). Just a heads up for you latex fans out there! Lee Darrow, C.H.
