I am looking for any suggestions for patter or anything that can get my creative juices flowing for an effect in Ency. of Card Tricks. The trick is called Turnover on pg. 122. It is basically a pick a card trick using the double back principle and the selected card is found as the only faceup card in the deck. Any ideas are appreciated.

Well if you use a dbl faced back what I would do it say "give it a little snap and your card comes to the top." they say no it's not my card! and then you go "o, well then it must be this card!" and you show that its the only card face up in the deck.

O btw sry I forgot to say that you dunt nessasarily need a dbl facer for tricks of its the only card in the deck. Make the trick examinable with a non rigged card. it gives better reactions when they say if they can inspect it. or does that trick need a dbl facer?

No it doesn't use a dbl facer , it uses a dbl backer which is lost in the deck, and their card really is the only one faceup and is completely examinable and thanks for the idea of showing the top card not to be theirs

I do not have the book in front of me but what you are describing is essentially a triumph type of trick where two different magical effects occur. The first is that of discovery, you desern or discover the card. The way in which it is revealed could be a few other effects. A penetration. the card flips upside down by penetrating or phasing through the other cards, or a transformation or transposition the back and the front of the card trasform or transpose, or an anomoly the card is somehow unbeknowst to the magician found face up (akin to a reversed card in a tarot reading.) The same could be said of the abitious card, does the card placed in the middle penetrate the others to arrive at the top or does it transport or jump to the top of the deck. The point I am sugesting is that if you do not know what is occuring you can not hope begin to structure logical "patter" or a presentation for the effect. If you do not know what is happening how will your audience know?

The card they select is lost in the deck(put facedown like the rest of the deck), but instead of shuffling and cutting and finding their card, when you spread the deck the card is reversed thanks for the help cinemagician, I guess this effect would be classified as a transposition then
