Since there is no best of anything this is merely my opinion (and worth every penny you are paying for it). I will make the assumption that you have been asked to perform an effect on television. Having said that, I would say as far as visual for an audience go for something like, Cups & Balls, Benson Bowl, or Chop Cup. Block things out with the camera operator or director if possible so they don't miss a shot. Let the host know how it works do you don't have to worry about fooling them, and make the best presentation you can for the all seeing eye of the camera.

I would say out of millions it would depend on what type of close-up. I would do Strangers Gallery, Twisted Sisters, or Triumph. Skinners 3 card monte would kill too I think.

How about this?
What if you were asked to perform close up Magic on TV but without using Cards, what will you perform? Anything but cards because the host of the show is the only one required to do card tricks. |

Frank, that was a really good idea "let the host know how the trick works so you won't have to fool them".
Last time I did something on TV (I've only done it 3 times, so NO I'm not exhaulting myself) I told myself that next time, I'd go over a few lines with the host, so that he/she would get a few laughs, but look as if they were funny "on their feet". I figured it would be easier to get back on the show for the next time if I made the host look good. |
