Jack:
I have a few questions if you don't mind. 1) Specifically, how does the $25k guarantee work? 2) On your site, you say that you bend nails with your brain. Could you do this under the following conditions?: You're seated at a table with your hands tied behind your back. An agreed upon, independent person brings the nails (you can specify brand, type, and size). This person places the nails on the table, where they remain in plain sight. You bend the nails. If you would not or could not do this, why? 3) You referred to yourself as a paranormalist. Do you have supernatural powers? Or do you consider what you do similar to what Osterlind, Banachek, and Derren Brown do? Thanks for your time. -Jim |

Hi Jim,
I posted the video on the site so that people would see how I must perform the experiment. (Also gave my reason) In addition I posted a rather detailed list of guaranteed items. I also posted an often asked questions page on the JimClass site . I will be doing a live web broadcast that pretty well conforms to your criteria. If you want to be notified join the forum on the site. I can't say when it will be broadcast because of my current work load. I do hope it will be within the next couple of months. I will say that I am not like the performers you mentioned. Heck just the material I perform would speak to that. And then being able to guarantee the validity of the event. I know at this time to many $25,000.00 does not seem like allot but it is to me at this time. That said I do hope to be able to increase the challenges and guarantees to at least $1,000,000.00 over the next couple of years with the help of the self proclaimed Amazing Randi and the JREF. If not I would imagine that it will raise to at least one hundred thousand by the end of the year. I have had offers from a couple of known performers/psychics wishing to add /contribute my challenge total but I would rather do it myself and not have to pay out any percentage of winnings or profit. I hope this answers you questions. If not let me know and I will answer what I can. Thanks again for your posting. Best Wishes Jim I have not heard from the JREF yet, but I am sure I will soon. Best Wishes Jim |

Jack:
I did read the often asked questions page and this one: http://jimclass.com/dejavue.htm but I still don't understand the guarantee. You will pay the money to whom if what happens? If you aren't able to do what you say you will do? Or if someone catches you cheating? Also, when you say that you're a paranormalist, do you mean that you have supernatural powers? Or is what you do science? Or mentalism? You said: "I will be doing a live web broadcast that pretty well conforms to your criteria." By "pretty well," do you mean that you wouldn't be able to meet the criteria that I specified? Could you do the bend with the nails in plain view the entire time, with you hands tied, and the nails brought by an independent party? If not, which part wouldn't work for you, and why. Thanks much. -Jim |

Hi,
You still havent answered whether you are the real thing. Whether you have real powers. And reading through your site, I couldn't make heads or tails of anything. I understand you do many effects. But I didn't understand what you were saying. And I saw that you have sold your previous secrets to magic brotherhood once. If so, can I know the names of the effects you sold.. And are you challenging JREF or do you want to accept their challenge?
To believe is Magic.

Double talk, double talk, double talk...Personally, I think the whole idea of "challenging" Randi is naive' and amaturish. But, since most of the media have the same mentality, it will likely get a good amount of press.
Randi's conditions are no more (or less) than scientific controls that will eliminate the possiblilty of cheating (trickery) and the misinterpretation of data (ruling out lucky hits,etc..) You either can do it for real, or you can't. The burdon of proof is on you NOT Randi or any other tester. What? You are going to 'test' Randi? I don't get it. |

Randi won't care.
Consider this application tossed in the trash and the file closed. I can see it now.. "Applicant was not clear on whether he had powers, is an accredited mentalist, and has made numerous comments that he was going to try to win JREF's money by means of a test he set the rules to. File is closed and application is rejected." And why hasn't Kramer heard from you yet? Have you gotten the application notarized and sent in? |

Hi Jack,
1. I think the various challenges made on your site leads to confusion. I think it might help to simplify things and focus on one challenge only--making it the focus of your site. 2. I doubt Randi will care, since you make it clear you are a magician. However, I think the challenge you're proposing should be clarified--to the point where it can be summed in one short statement or phrase. (If anything, the number of people confused on this thread should say something to you.) 3. A couple pages of your site required scrolling down to read, then scrolling up to read the break. I can see what you're going for here--it's formatted the way a magazine or newspaper would be--but I think it's best if you broke up the text into multiple pages and let the reader scroll down to one "next page" link. 4. At times, the writing style changes (slightly) and takes on a passive voice. I don't think this helps you. I'd look into a new copywriter (if I were you); one who can write snappy, engaging prose... it'll help your sales. 5. I like the concept of Deja-Vu, but I wish you would be more theatrical about it and not add in show-business rhetoric. I think that takes away from the mystery and excitement. (And, strangely, I get the impression that a lot of the copy on your site is written more for magicians than the hoi-polloi.) Otherwise, the site looks pretty good. I wish you every good thing with it. Best, James. |

MDSpark,
I must dissagree with your undrstanding of Randi's challange. It would make little differnce if an amature or pro is making the challange. The piont is that it is made. Many agree with you. I do admit that. Thanks for looking and your comments. Best Wishes Jim Harishjose, Mier Yedid, still sells something I came up with and sold manufacturing but not publishng rights to. I sold it to a guy named Jeff Stewart. He sold it to Meir years later. It was called Mirical Rope Though Body. And I distroyed with it in both the close up and stage comp at the IBM convention in Norfolk. I remember Mac King in the lounge of the hotel after watching it perfromed may five time saying. I give up I have no idea. I also used it in all my shows at Bushg gardens in Williamsburgh VA. Hope this answers your question Best Wishes Jim Oh, and what I do is real. Jarrod, You have not gotten the point yet? It is my challenge not, Randi's your confusion amuses and surprises me. Here is the section from the press release that has been going out that deals with your specific comment. -excerpt- Addressing the issue of being a magician and also a Paranormalist he comments, “I am also a professional musician. I wonder if that worries them as well. They are two distinctly different entities. Can’t someone can be a writer and at the same time an illustrator? Different tasks, distinctly different contributions to literature.” I also have never claimed to be a mentalist. Let alone one with accreditation I am a paranormalist. And if you know Kramer has not yet heard from me then he must have. You do imply that he has shared that knowledge with you. At that very least he knows of me through your communication with him. The site and challenge is up. It is not notorised I don't even know if you can have a site notorised. Would it cool you down some if it were? I hope this clears things up for you. Thanks for your time. Best Wishes Jim |

Jack:
Would you mind elaborating on how your challenge works? Whom does the money go to under what conditions? Also, on this thread: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......forum=15 you said, regarding the nail bending, "For me it is a very iffy deal so it is not part of something I offer as show content." Would you mind saying why it's iffy? Thanks, Jim |

Jim,
If you prove the statements of fact wrong you get the money. I realize after looking at the pages it might seem a little ambiguous. I am going to see what I can do about that. You are not the only one to point this out. But you were one of the first. The spike bending, It is iffy because the circumstances for it to work are not always favorable. Its like the phenomena of ball lightning it does not happen all the time because the conditions are not always right. Or lets say you decided to do an effect that uses the natural phenomena of a lunar eclipse as part of a presentation. You would not be able to do it when ever you chose because not only of time but also weather conditions performance venue, ect. It is the same with this experiment. The spike demonstration is me taking advantage of a group of naturally occurring events. I am sorry that I cannot tell you more about it. Supernatural occurrences I believe have to be based upon some rule of reality. Just by us observing them makes the statement true. Best Wishes Jim |

On 2005-03-01 10:55, J ack Galloway wrote: You misunderstand something. JREF's money is directly tied to their challenge. They are not going to change rules or go out and find other challenges. That's not how the company exists or how their bylaws are formed. As it is, there definatly are funds to support this (look at JREF's 990) , but the man is legally bound to doing the challenge by the rules he set up for dispersing the funds. As a fan of JREF and Randi, I know for a fact that KRAMER does share applications and applicant emails with the crowd, and is active on JREF's forum. As such, if you did apply, you would have information on there that indicates you in the "Million Dollar Challenge" section. It's Randi's money. Randi's rules. Play by them or don't... but I promise you it'll backfire if you intend to use this as a promotional stunt. Randi will call you on it, and wipe you all over the place.. and he probably already knows you're up to this because he is good friends with Banachek. (Not invoking Banachek as a threat here, but .. Randi knows Mentalism. He knows it well.) So.. count on Banachek being asked to observe the "test", if and when you agree with JREF on a protocol. As stated earlier.. I don't think you're going to get that far. Best of luck! |

Yes, don't do this for the publicity, do it for the money and to wipe that smug grin off his face. If you try to do it for publicity he will turn it into HIS publicity.
Best of luck! /Bamba |

J ack Galloway:
I have to laugh whenever I see someone promoting themselves in this fashion. It's depressing, though, how many people buy into the position of self-proclaimed psychics, paranormalists, or whatever you want to call yourself. The position is always this: "This is what I say I can do; prove otherwise!" This is exactly backward: if you say you can do something, it's up to YOU to prove it. Otherwise, it's just meaningless blather at best, and outright lies at worst. The whole point of Randi's challenge is to provide people who make claims to special powers and abilities the opportunity to demonstrate them under conditions that preclude trickery or other non-paranormal means. To date, NOT ONE so-called psychic has taken Randi up on his offer. The reason is clear: not being able to do what they say they can do will adversely affect their ability to make a living off the gullible and stupid. I fully expect the same to happen with you: unless you really do have the powers you claim, I predict that you will either: a) refuse to take the challenge; or b) take it and fail miserably. How can I be so sure? Because nowhere have you indicated that you're willing to abide by the rules that Randi has established. Look, I have no problem with people making money as entertainers. I have a HUGE problem with people making false claims about themselves and taking advantage of others. If you really have special powers, great: prove it, get your million bucks from Randi, and let the world be your oyster. If not, then stop using Randi as a cheap promotional gimmick. As I said, my prediction is that you will weasel out of the challenge. Does that make me psychic? I guess we'll have to wait and see! |

Phaedrus,
I am proving it. You are speaking as one blinded by Randi's rhetoric. The things you accuse me of are behaviors Randi engages in. (The Red Bamboo group passed their first test. Randi will not make the next) What makes Jim Randi the arbiter in such matters. He has no qualification other than he has become famous because of Uri Geller. I am offering the same challenge he is. If he is true in his intentions let him step up and take the cash from me. I offer a clean challenge. A one shot deal. I will not let him play his games. And look at my requirements it is a very clean test. But I can only do it possibly one time. Could I end up hospitalized on in a box because of the experiment? Yes I could. I will even put up my personal cash against his. As long as he has at least 5,000.00 to put up. But he will loose and then I will make the $1,000,000.00 I will increase the cash over time and it will be my own money not some donation or contribution I will contrive to live off of until I die by creating a foundation and hiring allot of people to protect it so that they can live off of it also. I have no respect for Randi. As of yet I have had no one prove otherwise. And I believe I can prove my case and I will do so publicly. Cheers Jack |

Considering that randi does the tests in public and posts them on the forum, I can assure you that the YELLOW bamboo group did NOT pass the preliminary test. There was no red bamboo group. |

Sorry Jarrod,
Was a bit color blind. But if you can explain this please do. http://www.prweb.com/releases/2004/2/prweb106721.htm They posted the news release. And from reading his site he has not made good on his challenge. So this as well as other things have forced me to offer my own challenge. Cheers Jack |
