I wonder how many have put their booklets for sale on ebay in favour of this "better" edition? At last count I found at least six different sets for sale over the past eight months... |

Now, now, Reuben, sarcasm is a tool for the weak minded. . . surely, you can do better than that. Good for you if you have the originals. You don't need to spend the $40. Not everyone else is so lucky. Let me ask you this. . . did you purchase yours new at the time of publication, or did you pay the inflated pre-Prism ebay price?
Mark

Some who have the original manuscripts but them on sale at ebay in favour of the "new" book. Colours is reprinted as a new book with new pictures, then the originals are floged on ebay/magic week etc. as if they weren't worth anything any more. FYI I got a rather excellent deal on the books, £20.00 per copy. At the time of their publication I was a rather awkward pimply faced adolescent who had more concerns than magic..girls were my main priority. By all means buy the book, I'll probably subcome to temptation in a while. But please, don't say that this book is better than the original simply because of the new packaging and spiffy illustrations.... Now if there were additional material not found in the originals, such as are in Cassidy's book then I'd give it some serious consideration. I've got Cassidy's "Artful Mentalism", as well as most of the material 99% of the contents. The book also contains material that I don't have for assorted reasons, hence my buying it. Sarcasm? Nah.. mearly an observation at the way many for some reason seem to want to let fly with the VISA because of repackaging... |

Aww, I'm just kidding with ya.
I do agree that there is truth is sarcasm. But I do think it is over used, and messages could often be better sent with intelligent discourse. But I'm from the South, where we are hypocrits but we're very polite about it. Anyway, I do agree with what you're saying, to be honest. For the record, I never said that Prism was "better" than the originals. That was someone else. The only "improvement" would be that all the books are contained in one cover. Well, and that all the grammar flubs are fixed. . . and the illustrations are clearer . . . but other than that . . . heh heh heh Mark

I think that this is a wonderful book. The material holds up beautifully IMO, and the few things that are "dated" can be easily "updated" with a modicum of thought and creativity. It is certainly well worth the asking price!

There is some great stuff in here, I find middle telepathy the best, but desire is great also.
I think this is more than worth the price, a lot of the new stuff out there at the moment costs similar a amount and has less than half the insights and workable effects present in Prism. |

I love this book. I haven't really considered studying mentalism seriously before and bought this book on a whim but I have to say that it is an incredible collection. You gain insight into psychology for mentalism which you can also apply to many other aspects of your performance. I really gobbled up the one effect especially, the effect where you throw a crumpled piece of paper into the crow and have whoever catches it come up to be your volunteer. The volunteer then names a color which is the exact color you have written on the crumpled piece of paper. The simple out for this effect is very effective as well. Such a simple piece but it's a very good opener for a mentalism act.

Hello.
"PRISM" by Max Maven. This has nothing to do with the contents, but do you feel any strange feeling? If you do, you are a Maximum Mavenese. Max has been writing books under the name of "Phil Goldstein"(real name?). Oddly, even the original colour series were written by "Phil Goldstein". However, PRISM is by "Max Maven". Did Max finally write a book for the first time? |
