I'm looking for some help with making my own wiregrams. I've purchased the wire that I need and formed it into the shape that I want but I'm having trouble holding it in that position while heating it. Does anyone have any ideas on how to keep the wire from bending back to it's original shape while getting it hot enough to take on the new shape?

Take a piece of wood, nail some finishing nails into the board and wrap the wire around it. At the bends and corners...does that make since?
Basically you are going to make the shape that you want with a series of nails and wrap the wire TIGHTLY around it. Leave excess at the ends to anchor it and cut the excess off at the end. If this is not clear, let me know and I will try to go into more detail. |

I appear to have lost the actual link to the site that I purchased it from. It was just a small science store.
You want to do a search for "Nitinol Wire" Here are a few links. I am not sure how reputable these companies are though. http://scientificsonline.com/product.asp......09677910 http://boreal.com/category.asp_Q_c_E_535981 |

I make my own. I purchase the Nitinol from http://www.teachersource.com/ Use needle-nose pliars to hold the shape together while you hold it over a bunsin burner. There are some shapes that are logically easyer to make. PM me and I can help you more.
