Hey! Let's all lighten up, fellows.
I'm a webmaster, too, and I know how it feels when someone criticizes my "kids." But I have learned a lot from people who looked at something I thought was very clever or beautiful and they told me what it looked like to them. A case in point -- I have a web site that is devoted to the banjo. I have a passion for banjos. And I have collected a lot of information about them. I started a web site concerning banjo setup in 1997. It grew into a huge collection of information. Somebody complained that the background graphic I used made it impossible for them to read the pages. So I changed it. Most people had no trouble with it -- and they told him so. But I want everyone to have access to it. So I changed it. Six weeks ago, a friend of mine from Arkansas told me that he had trouble navigating it. Small wonder! It had grown from a couple of pages to more than 75, and there was no navigation bar, and not much of a menu. So I put in a nav bar to make it easier to get around. I'll probably have to change it again sometime. But I spent a lot of time making it easy for people to read. The most time-consuming alteration I have ever done to a web site was when I set the cups and balls museum up with dual access. Each page has two forms -- one for dialup access, with thumbnails, and one for high speed access with the regular photos. I also had to reduce the photos slightly to make them load more quickly. It's not easy being a webmaster.
