Hey guys,
For those that don't own it I wanted to say that it's great! It's my first Ammar video and I like the way he teaches stuff and how thorough it is (although since my only other videos are the McBride card manip ones I felt like he was going pretty fast). Anyway I had one gripe. I think the navigation on that DVD is the WORST ever made. L&L took the best feature of DVD and made it so stupid that it's almost worthless. I say almost because despite the fact that the menu sucks at least is does have chapters. To that end I've made a table of contents with what each chapter is. So for example when you are watching the coins across and he says to use a friction palm you can go "What's a friction palm? Oh it's ch. 44" and watch it rather than having to spend so much time on the menu that you may as well have had a VHS and rewound it. You can check it out at <outdated link removed by staff> -Dan P.S. For Dan Watkins, in your comparison you said Ammar doesn't teach how to release coins one at a time from classic palm, actually he does it's in ch. 30 |

Hi Dan!
You are right about the missing table of content on the DVD. Nearly all software players allow you to set bookmarks, so that's the way to get around on the PC. The hardware players, however, are a different matter and in those cases, your TOC will be helpful. I don't want to bookmark all chapters anyway, so my list of interesting spots on the DVD is kept small. Cheers, Spherie |

Dan,
Thanks for the chapters list, it helps me. I guess I can throw out the 3x5 card that I was scribbling on now.. I agree about the menu on the Ammar video, but I am SO glad that magic instruction is available on video now - I am rekindling my interest in magic after 20 years of dormancy - I guess I am still in the honeymoon phase: magic on video, and not just tape, but DVD! |

Thanks for the index of chapters. It will help my search through the dvd quite a bit

I notice the URL for the HTML file is now gone, so here's a replacement I created in PDF format. It's nothing fancy, but you can print out the file, trim it with scissors, and it will fit in your DVD case.
http://free2.angeltowns.com/cdnmagicinfo......agic.pdf While I was at it, I also created something similar for Michael Ammar's Exciting World of Magic DVD: http://free2.angeltowns.com/cdnmagicinfo......orld.pdf For both files, the blue text (lighter gray if printed on a black-and-white printer) indicate performances that are perfectly safe to show to "laymen." Of course, there's no guarantee that by the time you read this, these files will still be available, either. ;-)

Dgcuff - thanks for this navigational info! Printed it out now, in case the link disappears after another 2.5 years! =)

Oh, my prophetic soul!
The PDFs I had on angeltowns disappeared because angeltowns decided--without absolutely no advance notice--to shut down all their free sites. I lost a few files, but nothing irreplacable. You can now find the chapters list for Michael Ammar's Complete Introduction to Coin Magic at: http://magicinfo.ca/public/Ammar_CoinMagic.pdf The chapters list for Michael Ammar's Exciting World of Magic DVD is at: http://magicinfo.ca/public/Ammar_ExcitingWorld.pdf But again, who knows for how long?

Hmmm. I thought Ammar was mostly a card guy...

Really?
Of the four volumes of the Early Ammar video series, just one is about cards. Of the four volumes of the Classic Renditions video series, just one is about cards. In addition to the 9 volumes of Easy to Master Card Miracles, there are 3 volumes of Coin Miracles, 3 volumes of Thread Miracles, a volume of Business Card Miracles, and the two-volume set on the cups and balls. And those are just the L&L Publishing Videos. Not sure why Ammar would come across as exclusively a card guy. Hmm. But of course if you've only heard of the Card Miracles, I guess that would do it, wouldn't it? Possibly I should shut up now. Or, y'know, about five minutes ago.

Ok, well, I don't know him that much, all I have seen is his card books and stuff so I just figured that he was mostly a card guy. By the way...
