Long experience has taught me that the crux of my fortune is whether I can radiate good will towards my audience. There is only one way to do it and that is to feel it. You can fool the eyes and minds of the audience, but you cannot fool their hearts.

Well, I have to admit, you look better in the hat than I do you handsome devil. Now if we can just get a photo of your pal wearing a viking helmet we'll have everyone here thinking we are crazy.

Ok, Magic Junkie... You need to take a breath. Relax and keep it simple. Put together your favorite show and go and do it on the street corner. See what happens. Sit after the first show and make some changes and do it again, and again and again. You'll love it or hate it. BUT it will get your juices flowing.
If your nerves are really up, just do a 5 to 7 minute show. A couple of tricks. Don't even pass the hat at that point. Maybe just lay it down and let them do what they want to do. After a couple of those short shows you will learn that they are not going to eat you, at least not all in one bite. Now you will be able to move on to the hat pass and add a trick or bit or two and begin to make the show "your" show and then do that show over and over again. The whole show will become the tool you use to make some money... Anytime you want to. Good luck and enjoy every precious moment. |
