I would like knowing if there are in USA, some shows only dedicated to mentalism and bizarre magic (especially in New-York's area, Las Vegas's area and New-Orleans's area).
Real vision is the ability to see the invisible. (Jonathan Swift).

Yes, there are many of them!
The craze started by David Blane's Tv specials a few years ago has over-saturated the market with more than a few hundred really, really bad Psychic & Bizarre styled programs presented by a very large number of 15-35 year old schmucks. When it comes to "the real thing" we have Criss Angel, McBride, and a handful of others that hit the headlines with the more bizarre & macabre side of things. Mentalism is still headed out by Kreskin, Banachek, McCambridge, Karges, and a few others of general repute. The thing is, many of these performers are working the College circuit more than the Casino or Theater market. Then you have guys like myself, Hilford, Riggs, etc who are working stiffs that operate in a wide array of markets and performance styles. In fact, I think most of us specialize in working smaller venues like the Bed & Breakfasts markets and the occassional hospitality suit (groups of 12 to maybe 120 on average). The angle of presenting "Interactive Theater" is far more viable not to mention "practical" for most. The problem is, this "new" medium is limiting our sense of travel, delivering a more territorial sense of identity. That's not so much a "bad thing" but it does make touring a hint more "grinding" than it needs to be when it comes to pre-sell, etc. Hope this answers your question. |

Well, it's not in any area mentioned, but Neil Tobin's act is going well from all accounts that I've heard, and it's exactly what you're asking about. He's in Chicago doing SupernaturalChicago.

Sorry Neil... I'm "out of the loop" with things from time to time (I so miss my memory!)
I hope to get back to the Windy City sometime soon... had many a fun times working at Bit O'Magic and hanging out with the Izzy Rizzy gang in the day! Come to think of it... there was this skinny buck-toothed kid with a huge afro that did this card trick about a Bell Hop... wonder what ever became of him???? |

Thanks Guys !
If I understand well , there are few public shows. It's essentially private evenings. In definitive, it's as in France. Personally, most of my bizarrism's shows are private too, in the castle, mansion or abbays. I agree with you Osiris. The success of David Blaine and Criss Angel have over-satured the market. I saw some one of this perfomers and it's true that it's really bad. It's the same thing in France. Since Gary Kurtz went in France on tour, there are many bad mentalists you know. It's really pity :-( Thank you Necromancer. Your website looks great ! When I'll go to Chicago, I'll watch your thrilling show
