I’m glad you enjoy it!
I think the strongest thing about the exhibition, besides the fact that they create an impressive gallery/temple to show it, was the video. The photos are gorgeous, but they have been slightly alterated to look half way like paintings so, you suspect that may have been some alterations in the proper pictures elements. But then, at the end of the room there was a full screen with this movie (you can hardly call “video art” such a technically perfect piece), that ran for about an hour, showing you the same images from the photos, but in movement. Then you realize that there was no trickery. These kids where in a river, reading to the elephants, the woman was dancing with an eagle, or a cheetah... In some sense the experience was similar to going to the circus. At the circus you know that there is no “Photoshop”. The guy on the trapeze is there for real, and we, so used to have our eyes deceived by Hollywood, have a hard time understanding that there are moments on real life when some humans goes beyond the limits of reality. This was very similar. Then, there was the text, the voice over the video. At some point, the voice recited some kind of mantra: “Feather to fire, fire to blood, blood to bone, bone to marrow, marrow to ashes, ashes to snow...” It not only was beautiful, but I thought it was perfect to be incorporated in any magic effect... |
