I saw a description of a magician doing coins through table with say, three or four coins. But instead of having four in one hand banging all to the table, but only passing one, this was done by taking one coin in the hand from the stack, passing that, taking next one from the stack, passing that, and so on. In my opinion, a more natural way to do it. Can anybody tell me who does the plot that way and has published it? Thanks.

Hi,
I had a 4 coins through the table where all 4 coins were set on the table top, a glass was placed under the table, and with both hands on top of the table the four coins where pushed through the table one at a time and fell into the glass under the table! It was in my book Coinjuring ( 1988) It was called Super Tap. But you do have to be sitting down to do it. OK later Man! Best David Neighbors The Coinjurer http://www.coinjurer.com |

This sounds exactly like Jonathan Townsend's Coins through table routine that appeared in Apocalypse. The telling feature is the fact that the coins are taken from a stack. (actually in Jonathan's routine, a small spread)The penetration of the last coin is direct and clean.
My ungaffed version appeared in Harry Lorrayne's "Best of Friends 2". (See "Lonely Coins Through Table") The ending is a "standard surprise". (i.e. Mike Gallo's ending) I've been preaching this message ever since I saw Jimmy Grippo perform the effect this way. He had the most direct approach possible. He would take one coin, tap it on the table top, and suddenly snap it into classic palm. The coin appeared to vanish right into the table. I believe he did this with three out of six coins. (The other three were held under the table in the recieving hand) If you can't tell, I agree. It doesn't make sense to do it any onther way.

Thanks Curtis. I've been on a "no fussing with the coins" kick for ... twenty odd years now. The coins through the table "4th Dimensional Trip" in Apocalypse is one of the easier methods. Another depends on having sticky hands .
For directness it's tough to beat the Kaps coin squash where a pile of coins, which can be marked or borrowed, goes through in one push.
...to all the coins I've dropped here

What I mean is, the Slydini clip is pretty powerfull to do the same effect..diff. handling though. Maybe the Kaps version is a bit more 'clean', as the coins just are grasped with one hand, which solely rises a bit to smash the 'coins' on the table where they pass through..but for performances for layaudiences I think they hardly se the difference, weather you do the Kaps version or the Slydini one.. I have to dig out my Apocalypses and reread your description..it goes way back to the 1980's, IIC..

A new "high tech" coin clip for six Morgan Dollars is now available from http://www.porperoriginals.com (not listed email him) with two stand-up ways plus two table ways to vanish the coins. One based on a Roy Benson effect done while standing. $60.

Been using this one for years, never fails to astonish:
4 quarters, and expanded ] and a shotglass. The quarters and shotglass are borrowed. I can't even remember where I learned this from, it was so long ago. Bobo? Hmm, maybe Johnson had it on their instruction sheet. My next step would be to graduate to Eisenhower '72's and a Johnson or Schoolcraft/Lassen ]...what do you think? Is doing this with larger coins more of an impact, or should I just keep it as it is? Thanks! Doug |

Doug, the routine you are referring to is the work of Milt Kort, and yes, the routine that comes with the Johnson [ is the same routine.

...and, IMHO, stick with the borrowed quarters.
