Sunday has six. Monday and Tuesday each have two. Wednesday has one. Thursday and Friday each have two. Saturday has none.
What do they have? Shane Wiker |

January has six.
February, March, and April each have three. May has none. And so on...right? Stan Alger |

Correct, except January has seven.

Shane,
Can you see why I'd consider January to only have six? Stan Alger |

Oh, you're right Stan. My mistake. So luncheon would have 7, and computer would have 4.

Ok, since it's making everyone so frustrated, here's the explanation. The answer is, "New letters."
For example, Sunday has six different letters. Monday and Tuesday each have two letters that don't appear in the word Sunday (MO and TE). Wednesday has one letter that doesn't appear in Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday (W). Thursday and Friday each have two letters that don't appear in Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday (HR and FI). Saturday has no letters that don't appear in Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. Shane Wiker |

Alright, that was good. I kept looking at curvy letters and vowels.
