I know all about those cray customs demons in Canada. It's terrible! I bought a set of clubbells and had them delivered to my sister in Montreal. When I got there to pick them up, my sister informed me I had to pay a $90 fee to the "agent"
Sheesh, you guys are really getting shafted. James

The Xpert is an excellent utility device to use in conjunction with the Sanctum membership card!!
At least 3 different effects can be done using the Xpert! |

So is it a gimmick which better works in the states or what? I wasn't sure to get XPert, but the critics are so positive... but now I read some discussions about the countries. so my question: would you recommend it for me? I am from Germany. can the gimmick whatever it is changed for something people in Germany are more familiar with?
Thanks a lot.

It'll be fine in Germany. I think people get a bit worried about this, it's not really a concern IMO.

Thanks cardiac! but what is "IMO"?
And what do you mean by "people get worried about it"? Do you mean the people here on the forum gets unnecessarily worried about it or do you mean the people here in Germany might be worried a bit because it is unfamiliar?

After reading this and other threads I decided to buy it. I did my usual when I opened it, and sighed, then read the booklet and was really disappointed....!
Then later in the afternoon, I re-read the booklet and it started to dawn on me the ammount of applications this item has. ok so later in the evening I tried the coin vanish on my wife who is my toughest audience at any given time, and she was completly floored. Had no idea how I did it. So it is true when you open it, a lot will be "that's it" but once they realize the ammount of effects and also how clean the ones in the book are, this really is one of the best utilities around, thank you Neil for comming up with such an item. Kind regards Steve Happy New Year
I do look forward to the day when you post something constructive.

Hi Memory Jah
IMO = In my opinion (In meiner Meinung). What I meant was that your spectators shouldn't give a second thought to a prop if you don't. Just go ahead and perform ! Good luck. |

How long until the Xpert DVD? |

Got today the Xpert.
* It was dry, did not write well * Routines are not really blowing away but okay. * can´t use on paper * Price to high. Therefore you can get a mental DVD with more benefit This all together makes me disappointed. It it would be a local seller I would give it back immediately. Marketing wise everybody tells: How great it is etc.... but it is at the end of the day "one" handling/routine. For me it shows that not everything is worth to buy and most people only write "how great this or that is". Maybe I miss something. Would surprise me- but "let me know". |

Spinki:
Even without the power of clairvoyance, I can see that you have never performed a routine using the X-pert yet. Until that time, I don't believe that you can possibly judge the reactions you'd get from an audience. However, you MUST perform it WITHOUT the judgment you have about it right now, or you will telegraph something irregular to the audience members. Remember Thomas' post - their reality is not yours. Please try it first before you judge, and then report back to us, if you would and... since when have you ever fully liked the secret to a magic, or even better, mentalism effect, once revealed to you? |

Hi Arnon,
thank you for the answer. First: I don´t want to affront somebody.Secondly: sorry for my bad english. I just have a "misunderstand" of what the Xpert "Gimmick" is. Arnon, you are absolutely right that I have another point of view than the audiences.I think the routine is may be okay. But the Gimmick-point I do not really understand. I will go now a try to read the manual/routine book again. Maybe I can see a light at the end of the tunnel. Ive got a new information from another forum, which makes it more clear for me. I can now understand the point of view. So the audience " expectation " is complete different of my personal experience. So the base is complete different. For me now it is much more clearer. Please let me know if I am wrong! |

Spinki, I'm sorry you don't like it. There are others in Europe who like it quite a lot, so I wouldn't pin the blame entirely on a difference in culture. If you treat the gimmick in front of your audience for what it appears to be (rather than what you know it to be), you will be able to do powerful magic. At the end of every Xpert effect, the coin, card, or other affected item is entirely examinable, which sells the effect strongly and leads your participants very far away from the method. Good luck to you.
Craig, thanks for asking about the DVD. This has been an unusually change-filled year, which has pushed the project outside my focus for longer than expected; but I have high hopes for a release some time in 2007. Best, Neil
