I really like this trick. I think it is one of the best uses of IT. I like the facts that it is an animation and not a levetation, and it uses something (a bill) that everyone is familiar with. I like the Al Baker method (with wax, not a TT) because the bill is clean at the end. However, I would like to perform this at any time in a performance and the Baker hook up really only works for me at the start of a show. (If I remember the Ammar video correctly, he stumbles and loses his gaff.) Does anyone have a better hook up or ideas? I've tried playing with Loops for this, but have not been sucessful as they are too big.

You should check out the LeClair animator. It is a very versatile hookup, and can be used for many tricks. It is taught on the who's afraid of invisible thread dvd, and on the dvd, there is a very nice version of the erectile bill.

I like the hook up of the Leclair animator, but the reason that I really like loops or the the erectile dollar is that there everything is self contained and no hook up is needed. I am thinking about buying some of the invisible elastic that they are selling to make loops and tying very small loops that could strecth from from my thumb to index or little finger. I'll kepp ypu all posted.

I agree the LeClair animator is good for this (watching the video now as I type) but I've allways done this with the hookup that Eugene Burger teaches and have allways used that. I guess I'm going to have to set up the LeClair animator and see how I like it. Man! Change is hard LOL. I Used to have a pen (not a reel) that I had in my pocket and would do a floating bill. walk away and break the thread and just put the wax on the top again and pick up another piece of thread without looking. kind of like the kennidy gimmick. Not a lot of setup time was nice. and it was easy to get just enough for the erectile bill quickly.

Eugene Burger teaches this on the Stevens Spirit Magic video as well as in his book, Spirit Theater. I would recommend that you check out his handling.

I performed the Erectile Dollar Bill; to a friend (31 year old guy)and gave the presentation of 'static electricity' and he believed that is how the effect worked. Tried it several times himself and walking away thinking that is how the effect worked! HAHAHA!
Theater, cinemas, and literature are all better forums for telling stories or creating drama. Stand-up comedy is better for telling jokes. But magic is unique in creating the Twilight Zone sense of turning a corner and finding yourself on another street, in another town, in another country. Deception is the means to that end. –John Bannon

Marcjh, if you don't like using loops for the erectile bill, cut a piece of IT the length of your thumb and middle finger. Put a very, very tiny ball of wax on each end of the IT and wedge the one end of the wax inside your thumb fingernail and wedge the other end of the wax inside your pointer finger fingernail. The wax should be undetected. Now you can perform the levitation. Tom
