There is also EL wire (electroluminescent wire) in a range of colors. You don't want to have this directly visible, because it looks like neon tubing. I am building a prop that has EL wire and the batteries underneath a piece of hardboard with holes drilled through it. The holes will have glass vials in them, and the light will "creep up" the glass. The whole thing is inside a box, and it will be handled so as to not really let people get a look at it, a few people will catch a glimpse, and depending on the lighting, some of the glow will be thrown onto may face and hands when I open the box.
Of course, this isn't "strange light without electricity," put we are drifting in interesting directions here. Yours, Paul |
