I've been doing this move for a long time but I can't remember where I learned it or what it's called. Here's a short video of me doing the move. I made this short video clip years ago with a simple web cam so it's not very good quality. In fact the quality is terrible. It's also a .RAM file so it uses real player. The video won't expose the move but it demonstrates it. I know isn't much help on the method but I'm trying to not reveal much.
I will say that the coin ends up in my outer jacket or vest pocket. Click here to see the short video Any information on this move would be appreciated. Thanks. Ron Jaxon |

Ron,
There's a thread going in the "coins" section about the steal used in your clip. The concensus seems to be that Arthur Buckley named this the "Cardini Steal" and it was something Cardini used. Others know this as a "Heel Clip Steal". The ditch is something else. While the concept is quite basic, the skill required to make consistent use of this sort of move is harder to come by. Predecessors in print would be Milt Kort's "with a handkerchief" from Bobo's MCM and David Roth's technique from "Stonehenge Assembly" in Expert Coin Magic. Of course, if it involves jumbo coin manipulation, you can probably find something similar in Gary Kurtz's "Flurious". None of these are exactly what you're doing in the clip, however.

Thanks Curtis.
I just wanted to mention proper credit when I teach this in my lecture because it's part of one of my routines. So far it seems a combination of moves (A steal and a ditch). So I think I'll just mention some sources for each part like you pointed out. I like to mention these things in my lecture whenever possible. I learned this a long, long time ago. Back when I didn't know enough to remember the originator of things so I can give proper credit when it's asked. I can't even remember where I learned it. It's a great move though. Very angley and not so easy to master but I've been doing it long enough to feel confident with it. So thanks again. I also noticed I posted this in the wrong place. It should be in the "For the record" section. I just accidentally clicked the wrong link. So move it if you need to. Ron Jaxon |

We kicked this kind of stuff around in the '70s and Dai Vernon showed me an improved handling (which looks like what you are doing). The first way I learned it was not as good as there was too much finger movement in the stealing hand.
Slydini used to ditch in the pocket, but my Dad, in show biz in the 1920s said some of the magicians he worked with ditched AND STOLE from the outer pocket.
