For the price of a terminator wallet, plus an additional $895, you could buy one of the top-rated 42" plasma televisions on the market:

For a good magician, the ammount of shows you would get from this effect means you can buy your plasma tv ;@)

Pete -
The "miracle" is convincing people to pay $700 for a device that accomplishs a rather straightforward effect! The point of my post which preceeded the Plasma Tv post was that I can perform a miracle AND still have the extra $700 to invest, save or spend on a plasma tv. Your folding key, on the other hand, makes sense to me because it solves a problem for which there are no satisfactory alternative solutions. But a $700 coin-bending wallet? Come on. That said, I wish you well on the wallet and all of your other endeavors. Cheers, Tiki |

I'm sure most pros will love this. But as Greg Arce said...if a switch works for you then use a switch. No need to buy this prop if you have been getting great results with a switch. I still use ray koenig's bent cent...used it this past weekend...NO ONE HAD A CLUE. One SL Coin Bender and you are set for life. Signed coins are only magician foolers. That my friends is the fact of the matter. If you really want to "sign" the coin...use Paolo Cavalli's subtlety as found in one of his books. Heck have them sign the bent coin!

Tiki... I am not involved with the wallet... that is R. Paul Wilson's. Personally, I think it is a great way to do the effect, but can't afford it for my own self, and besides, it isn't an effect I would do...
However, for those that can afford it, and WILL DO IT... I think it is a terrific method, having seen Wilson do it. It isn't going to be mass produced, and has already sold out the first run. More are on the way to hocus-pocus as we speak. Now, the Key... yes, it has solved some of the problems with similar items from the past. It won't be cheap, as the machine work and engineering costs are stagering. The precision work is something I admire. I've been trying all week to break one and it seems to be bullet proof. Something I could NEVER say about ANY folding coin or key that I have had in the past. (They all broke at the wrong time for me)!

Kids buy what they want, because they think it's cool. They smoke dope because they think it's cool. They drink because they think it's cool. But we all know that it isn't. (Note -- I'm not saying ALL kids do these things. I'm saying it's the reason some kids do things.) The idea that Hocus Pocus caters only to kids is ludicrous. They cater to a world-wide group of magicians, both professional and amateur. Some are collectors, others performers. And their offerings start in the $10 range and go up from there. In the long run, Kids will be better off learning sleights. But this wallet is priced high partially to keep it out of the hands of the curiosity seekers.

If you stop and really digest the items on Hocus Pocus' site, they really cater to the serious professional and collectors. Yes, they do carry some of the stock magic stuff. But people like Kohler, Porper, Wilson, Haydn, Fisher, and others choose Hocus Pocus to be their exclusive distributor because of the caliber of clientele that shop with Paul and Company. They aren't selling $5 Royal Cups and Balls. They are selling products that will someday be great Collectors pieces. The problem is, we live in the here and now with such a saturation of magic stuff that hits the market every day that some can't tell what will be the stuff that will be considered legendary down the road. Things we look at now like Paul Fox, Ken Brooke, Thayer, etc. will someday be the Porpers, and Sherwood, etc. |

Saturation of the market, a relatively large amount of disposable income, and purchasing DVDs/videos instead of books greatly impede the development of new magicians in my opinion. I know I sound like an old far*, but I'm glad I didn't have to face those roadblocks when I started out.
Back on topic, I don't own and am not intimately familiar with the Terminator Wallet but my bet is that it's a quality product that gets the job done well and its target market is the professional magician and collector. Whether or not it's worth the bucks is a function of each individual's perspective versus an inherent function of the prop itself. |

Don't really want to beat this into the ground, but if you are a working pro there are other wallets you would want on you. Within these wallets pack some bent coins and you are set. Minimal pocket space...same (or better depending on your presentation) effect on the audience. I know I would rather fill my pockets with a Predator, Card Loading wallet, Miller Miracle, SUC etc etc before I load up with a wallet whose sole purpose is to bend a coin. What is a clean effect (at least from the standpoint of someone whose character fits into bending metal)? You would take a coin from someone's stash of coins in THEIR hand and bend it right in front of their eyes. No signing for verification or anything. It should be that direct. I have done metal bending for a long time, coin bending in particular and I know that no one questions my switch or the fact that it isn't signed. I have 5-10 bent coins in my wallet ready to go.

I'm now taking pre-orders for a wallet that puts a bend in bills. It will retail at $275 and looks just like a normal leather wallet..:0
Simply in the act of closing your wallet it bends the bills. It can bend several signed bills at the same time. Paul. |

Paul, I think you have a winner there. I searched the net and I couldn't find a single Bill Bending wallet. I'll take one too!

I purchased the wallet used on ebay for a good price. Although I haven't used it much I do find that the 3 dollar bill trick gets great responses.
