Could be, if you are lucky enough. Keep on looking and don't give up.

As far as I know, "The Lost Works of Bro. John Hamman" is still readily available, and you can see the man himself in action. You can order it from Meir Yedid at http://www.mymagic.com. Just for the record, it is still the best investment I have ever made in magic to date. |

Sawrath,
As far as I know Secrets of Brother John Hamman is out of print. Regarding a reprint you should ask the publisher Richard Kaufman through Genii magazine, or forum.

Hi everybody,
I've seen the DVDs on ebay. Are much do the DVDs differ from the books? I've heard Kaufman based the book on these videos, is this true? Cheers! Steven |

I have the book (Secrets of...), but I wouldn't recommend it. If you can, just learn the four useful sleights from the book (Gemini Count, Undercount, Double/Triple technique, Double from bottom) and make your own routines. I find the majority of his material outdated, the plots contrived or senseless, and the methods sometimes way too obvious. Then again, I tend to be critical of mostly everything. To geta copy of the book, get in touch with Richard Kaufman, as someone else said. If he won't reprint it, get in touch with me and maybe you can borrow it.

Funny sam your comment reminded me of something else I read which was as you say 'outdated, contrived and senseless' oh wait here it is 'My name is Sam and my hobbies include telling people my name and my hobbies.'
Bro Jon Hamman was a genius to say the least, it's quite nice to hear he doesn't appeal to you, stick to the fluffy stuff, that guy from Penguin, OZ Shameman I think his name is, he has some Amazing stuff you're sure to like. A |

Hmm there are a number of tricks in that book that I'm sure would fool you if you were to see a competent performer handle them. I won't take the time to list them here but don't discount the items in the book so quickly. There is a lot more to that book than the sleights you mentioned. I would love to fool you with some of them.

I don't have the book, but I do have the "Lost Works" dvds. It should be mentioned that these vids weren't really meant for release. As Mr. Olsson stated, they were made so Kaufman could have a visual reference to help write the book. So, the picture quality, lighting, and sound aren't the greatest, but you do see the man performing his material.

Try calling Midwest Magic and asking for Tim Felix. He may be able to find you a used copy, actually if anyone can he probably can. It is in Franklin Park Illinois.
The book is definatly worth tracking down if for no other reason than his tricks, watch me like a hawk, and the gemini twins Good Luck Danny

I own Secrets of Brother John Hamman, and even though I admire Bro. Hamman, I am not a big fan of this particular book.
