Triple Countdown is my favorite.

Oh yes, triple countdown is an incredible piece of magic. I have been able to perform it in public only a few times. Due to few requirements of the trick is not easy to find the ideal ocasion to perform it, but I really love the principle involved.

Finger flicker is a truly wonderful and inexplicable piece of magic. But don't tell anyone.

When I read the description of the effect, I immediately recognized it, having seen it performed by a friend of mine. So now all I need to do is save the $40 and get the book. Sounds like a plan.

Trust me, if you get the book you will learn much more than this effect. Definitely worth the price!

I'm thinking about getting this book, but was wondering if someone could answer a couple of questions about it:
1) How difficult are the sleights and methods utilized? Closer to Bannon's DMF, or Hollingworth's DRD? 2) Someone said that a couple of the effects in the book require faro shuffles. In those effects, would it be possible to substitute another method in place of the faros? I should probably learn to faro eventually, but right now, it's just not a high priority for me... Thanks for the help. |

Garrett, no disrespect but if Faro's are not a priority with you at this moment, then niether would be the effects that utilize the Faro. Most effects that use the Faro require it in order to do the effect.
Again no disrespect.

Edh,
None taken, and I appreciate your honesty. In some ways it's a dumb question, but I have seen some effects (e.g., Williamsons "Aunt Mary's Terrible Secret") that have a faro and a non-faro version, and I guess I was wondering if the ones in this book are similar. But I'm guessing most effects that use it, require it, or the magician would have used something else! |

Pit Hartling's book was one of the first I heard about as I was starting magic, though I didn't buy it at the time as I assumed all the material would be beyond me then I sorta forgot about it over the years.
Having just watched the video of Finger Flicker on Furniture's blog and being completely fooled by it, I mean, I haven't even the slightest idea what was going on there, I think this may have to move it's way up my list of things to get once again. Tom |

The tricks in the book are not hard on the fingers (I think the hardest move used is indeed the faro shuffle) but they are certainly not simple or easy, as most of them require the use of sophisticated mental and psychological strategies (mnemonics, bold misdirection and the like, all of which are excellently discussed and taught in the context of the tricks), which could actually be considered harder.
The tricks are, though, totally worth the efforts, as each one of them is simply great. And if you like that book then "The little green lecture notes" contain material of similar subtlety and cleverness. |

The book is quite good but there’s a trick that requires bottom dealing and at least one a partial memorized deck if I recall correctly.
There’s a very clever and strong Pit Hartling effect in Steve Beam’s Semi-Automatic Card Tricks - Vol 7. It’s called the core. It requires a mem deck ( or any set-up that you are familiar with, even NDO will do) but the effect is well worth it. It uses reverse faros, but the very nice presentation enhances and masks the procedural aspect of the effect. I found the principle quite stunning. |

I remember a few years ago at the Castle, he taught that among many other great routines that he was using in his close-up act.
Thanks for reminding me of this one!

Finger Flicker is one of my favourites effects to perform. Pit starts it saying "ok, this is not a card trick, just an ability that took me years to master...". The same principle can be used for other routines.
Amazing effect indeed. |

Another book equals to the standard of DMF, yet another great gem that many not even care to read books.
I am now in love with quality magic books, it is the best way to keep secret away from mass majority and it is the best method to keep excellent effects to those who read and practice.
Most memorable moment - with Maestro Juan Tamariz & Consuelo Lorgia in FISM Busan 2018.

I'm looking to get this book ASAP... especially because the Finger flicker routine and all the good things that I heard about this book... I'm really interested...
but I have a question... How about the difficulty of the Finger flicker routine it self...? Is that hard ? Do we need to mastered some hardcore's technique to do this ? Thanks in advance... Best regard Diga |

Diga, it's a devious method that is well within the reach of an average card worker that dedicates the requisite practice time.
