Hey Storm,
Do you have a picture of your copper head cage, which you’re, will to share? It sounds great. Gavin D. |

To Ted; Yes a head cage works for me.
To Skin, sorry, no photos. To Magicinsight, it's copper, not steel, leather pants ? No. Mid evil gown? Yes. To everyone else, I think I made it clear it was no disrespect to Mr. Osterlind so lets say we drop it, savy? Storm Longstreet |

I knew I was a mentalist dork, while when I was arriving in Phoenix for a lecture I stopped at the airport book shop and saw a sleeping mask. Guess what I'm using for a blindfold tonight at NAU? LOL
Storm, If you're not too far from Yuma Az, I'll be performing in town. I would love to have you out if you can make it. I am also thinking of extending my southwestern stay, I was offered a lecture in LA. Although, I may decline. that's a long ways away for what lectures pay. |

To get back on topic – I do believe many performers currently make a feature out of blindfold work. Osterlind, Banachek, Marc Salem, myself, and even Penn & Teller have done so with much success. Now I realize no one will ever be the next Kuda Bux, but no one should try to be either. I think one of the reasons blindfold work isn’t discussed much is because it’s one of those effects that we don’t want to become the next metal bending, if you understand what I mean. Storm, it seems you have yourself a very unique blindfold act, keep it impossible, and keep away from the vultures.

Storm,
I think it is wonderful that you use "copper" head cage and medieval gown and I am sure some unique and intersting music and lighting to create a theatrical and mesmerizing atmosphere for your audience to experience and to remember. It is obvious that you are a serious theatrical performer who uneqivocally understands the theatrical nature of performing in general and of mentalism in specific. More (medieval)power to you. We can all learn from your creativity. The blind fold act is a classic. It is a shame that more performers do not perform it. It is also a shame that those who do perform it, do not truly perform it to its fullest potential. Best regards, Michael

I think one other performer that should be included in the above group is Gil Eagles. Gil is a master with the blindfold and closes his show with it. (Or used to). I know he only performs on a limited basis now. If you read Ken Weber's highlight in "Maximum Entertainment" he thinks that Gil is probably the best blindfold act that has ever been. Although never having seen Kuda Bux, I have seen Gil and what he does with a few strips of adhesive tape and a sleep mask and some coins is absolutely masterful. Of course his presentation is everything. All the bits of business and the one-liners, it is truly a great piece of entertainment.

I don't consider myself to be a Mentalist, I'm a blindfold artist. I don't consider what I do to be Mentalism, I call it theatre. This forum is the place for me, I don't think I'll be understood.
Storm Longstreet Correction: the above should have read- "this forum is not the place for me". Thank you. Storm Longstreet |

And honestly, now that I think about it, I like the "Blind fold artist" premise instead of the old and over-used "use of my 5 senses to create the illusion of a sixth". I'd love to watch your act as I'm sure it'd be amazing |

You posted about your blindforld and some people seemed impressed by it, then you gave your honest opinion on Osterlind blindfold being a "stop sign" and some other people jumped in and disagreed with you. Come on Miss Storm, I don't think you will want to leave just because people came in and disagreed with you on Osterlind blindfold or because they asked if you have some picture of you performing with your blindfold. This would be ludicrous! |
