I'm going to perform in a bar where a lot of foreigners will be there. How should I dress? Any idea?

When in doubt, look at the way the person who hired you dressed.

Bob is right on.
One of the best pieces of advice I got from my sainted Mother, was that when when you are in a place that is new to you, just watch people around me to see what you should do, and how you should act. This works, no matter what the situation, and certainly is applicable here. Also, the higher up in the pecking order, you choose to mimcik, (Bob's advice to use the one who hired you) the better off you are, because if he/she likes you then you are good to go. And if he/she doesn't like you, it wont matter much what the others think... Oh, and one other thing. If you look like you belong, and act like you belong, nobody is going to wonder or ask if you belong. (This last peice of advice comes from personal experience from my Washington DC political party crashing days..and beleive me, I attended a Lot of those parties for both parties, uninvited) And as a final thought; no matter how you are dressed, if you relate well, you will be accepted. If you don't relate well, you wont be accepted. Rambles ended.... BroDavid

Dress like a bouncer. All black, tight shirt, oh wait, that's what I wear wherever I go. I don't really think there are real dress codes in bars. I would say something classy, but not over the top. A tuxedo is probably inappropriate, but maybe a nice looking sweater or something of that nature.
I am away and will be so until late July. I will have a chance to read the forums, but I will be pressed for time, and unable to read every thread. If you feel a thread requires my attention, please PM me with a link. Thanks, and have a great summer. :

I agree yahu with the fact that their aren't any real dress codes in bars. I have worked behind the bars performing since I've been old enough to drink and I have never really had to consider my performing apparel. Wear what ever is clean and comfortable.
