I am thinking of releasing an impromptu, gimmickless rising card. It's called "Quick Rise". I would sell it for $11. You have a card picked. It is returned, and the deck is closed. You then riffle the deck and lose the card. Then, with the cards face up towards them or face down towards them, the card begins to rise up out of the deck. It then comes up about half way. You square the cards and show the card came out of the center and pull it out. Everything is examinable before and after the trick. It can be done with a borrowed deck, and there are absolutely no gimmicks or setup used. Would anyone be interested in buying this? If so, I may make a video and start to sell it. Remember, you guys make or break the releasing of this trick, so if you are interested, say so in this thread or PM me. Thanks.

Sounds interesting. I'd definitely take a look at the video because I'm a big fan of non-gimmicked tricks. If the trick looks good, I don't see why I wouldn't shell out a couple of bucks for it. Hope to see it soon.

Maybe you might first send the method to a respected member of the Café for an independent opinion.

Tommy has an excellent idea.
I can do a similar effect with a Stripper Deck. |

I can do the same effect with a regular deck...
What is so new and revolutionary with yours? Also, is the card really rising out of the center, or are you just rising it from the back and then doing a pass to show it in the center? |

I would be interested in checking out the video too. Sounds like a trick I might be interested in buying. Let me know how it goes man. Peace.

I'm a close up card man and I refuse to make a spectators card rise out of a deck. I'm sure it works fine and dandy for some but I can't see myself doing it. I just don't get it...it's so...TA-DAAA...therefore I can't present it with any enthusiasm.

There is a very good method of Rising Card with normal deck in Expert Card Technique. It uses p***ger principle in a subtle way. Ambitious Riser by Fred Robinson in Pabular is another wonderful method.

Daegs, it wasn't very cool of you to try to reveal the method. Although that's not how it's done. It's actually a very clever way of getting the card up and where it is. Can you edit your post please. Those of you who showed some respect for me as a magician, thank you. I will most likely have a demo video up soon. Thanks for the feedback.

It might be a good idea to check with folks like Mr.Kato or Wes James about the originality of methods.
It's one thing to re-invent the wheel. It's another to sell a re-invention as your own.

I'm not too aware of the methods of other rising card methods, but I'm almost sure the core part is different than other methods. I have two slightly different methods which I'd mention in writing and or video if you purchase this.

I agree, be sure to research other methods before you sell the trick. You don't want your 1st release to be a rip-off of another trick.
Good luck. Id liek to see the demo for this as well.

No, I did research other methods, but I haven't heard of a couple you guys mentioned. In my method, how one part is accomplished is completely different than any other method. Who can I check with to make sure the method's legitimate?

If you feel it is a nice move that could look great, why not offer it free to the community? I really don't understand so many young magicians' drive to sell things. A book of fifteen routines and sleights might be worth a purchase...one sleight or one routine, not so much. And the chances of it being completely new and unique are quite small. Elder magicians shared secrets amongst each other to elevate the art...why do so many younger magicians just want to make money off each other? |

There is a gimmickless version in Royal Road to Card Magic called "Pinky Does It". If you are familiar with that, how different is yours?

I just feel that I should now have some benefit from it. IMHO, I don't think it's your business to tell me what I can and can't market. I respect your advice, but you don't understand my situation. I've given so much to the magic community on OTHER forums and shared so many of my secrets. I am just trying to get some credit and cash from this and a gimmickless invisible deck routine. I many even bundle them to have kind of a two trick decks now ungimmmicked sort of thing. A move that I used in the invisi deck is very versatile and can be used for many things. I spent a lot of time composing these two routines and polished them off over the last couple months to market. I'm not just a magic newbie. Not many people just give away their methods they worked hard for to market. dengez |
