Practice!
I'm only half kidding. Card splitting is a knack kind of thing that seems impossible at first, but gets much easier with time. As far as putting the pieces together goes, most people recommend rubber cement, but I use Avery Removable Glue Sticks and get very good results. Do a search for card splitting on the Café and you will find lots of info. Good luck, Richard |

It is not necessary to soak in water to peel the layers. The Art of Card Splitting dvd has all the info you need to split and make gaffed cards, and is money well spent if you intend to make split cards.

Unless you want to make up a whole lot of them, why not call Neil Lester
http://www.cardsbymartin.com/site.htm#d Neil gives great service and is very accomodating. or Marty Martini http://www.martinismagic.com/Products.html Both these guys are class acts. This kind of work is affordable and top quality. Or see Marty. He has a book out on making gimicked cards. It's kind of fussy work, the materials used are availble and inexpensive.

While living in German, and not knowing where to buy them, I learned to split my own cards quite well. It'll take ruining a few decks to get used to it. I'd also suggest getting a nice rubber roller to flatten the cards together once you glue them back together. You can get the roller at any hobby store. If you can get the DVD I think you'll have a head start over anything I tried. I don't soak them. Tried that once but it just didn't come out as nice as they do now.
