I have been working with flash pads for 2 years now and I am reading more and more stuff on flash paper. What is the difference between the pads and the paper? What are the benefits and detrimental effects of the paper?

Well, the flash pads are god for small things maybe a coin to appear (i would get about 5 coin appearances out of one sheet from a pad, I don't use much!) and for carrying round, and the sheets are for bigger things, maybe makin someones keys dissapear, and if you want to make your own size pads, I first bought the sheets as they were the only ones that this shop had and I made my own pads with a stapler about 1/2 inch X 1 1/2 inch and it worked fine, many people use pads just for flash guns, fits fine, I don't have one so used it for coins and such.
As I said mainly the sheets are for bigger things but can be cut up into small ones if you prefer, or want something bigger than the pads without joining them together. Plus I think they are cheaper to buy! is that ok?! thanks, daz |

There's no difference paper or chemical wise. It's more economical to just buy flash paper by the sheet and then cut it up into whatever size you need, staple the pieces together like a pad even, if you wish.
BTW, for small pieces, a used Listerine breath freshner holder works great - you know, the ones that hold those little sheets that melt in your mouth.
Just hanging out with the rest of my fellow dregs.

There's no difference in paper... Not true! The pads are made of tissue paper. the sheets are made from bond paper. and are much heavier. This allows you to write on the sheets, but the burn is measurably slower. The bond paper was originally made for Bookies, to provide a way to rapidly destroy numbers and bets.

I didn't know that, but thinking about it, if I was to use a peice of flash pad it would fall apart so to speak quicker than the sheets and the sheets feel more solid, I cant see a difference in them burning wise though, maybe because I use small peices though.
Thankyou for the tip about the packet, I love it! |

I have a great cigarette from rolling up flash paper. It's angle-proof, and people love it.
Flash pads are great. I've yet to find some sheets. My local guy doesn't carry it at the moment, and I try to buy from my brick-and-morter when I can. How big are the sheets anyway?

Most sheets I've seen have been 8"x9".

I did some searching on Google, and came up with this place:
http://www.theatrefx.com/store/commerce......._related They sell 12" x 18' rolls of flash paper! Could you imagine having THAT much flash paper? 18' roll is $180. They seem to have a lot of flash accessories, like Flash Bills (one-sided prinitng of a dollar on flash paper), and flash glue. I didn't know that there was a glue you coul buy that is made for the stuff and burns just like the paper. Next you'll see "Pre-Folded Flash Roses", lol.
