What if the person gives us bad seats?...
Trapeze above the Grand Canyon. Be impressed.

Show the bill to them as you hand over the tickets, but don't give them the bill until you get the seats you want. DO NOT DO A BILL SWITCH!!! Remember the first rule from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: don't burn the locals.

I've always had good luck by holding a five dollar bill in my hand, and asking, "Do you have anything down front?" It's worked everytime for me; many years ago, I remember tipping $20.00 each time, then thinking if $10.00 would work. Now, I'm down to $5.00 with the same results. A booth is probably a different story, though.

Unrelated, I just got back from Vegas. Definitely SKIP Dirk Arthur's show at the Tropicana - it is really lack-luster. If you ever want to see someone just go through the motions while doing BIG prop magic, this is it. I wonder if Dirk Arthur has any idea of what it means to connect with an audience.

The amount to tip varies with show, room size, and whether or not the seats are reserved. Small rooms, weekdays , with pitiful crowds 5 will get you a nicer seat than what they are going to offer you. $10 will get you up front, and 20 a booth. This covers your whole party, not just one person. Bigger rooms at big shows the prices go up dramatically generally starting at 20 and up to the hundreds depending on the show and where you want to sit. In so many show rooms now they have reserved seating, but if there are captains and a matrie 'd , generally a reasonable tip for the size of the show will get you a better seat than your reserved seat. But always get there early, no matter how big the tip, if the seat has already been given, you can't get it.

Now this is some good advice. You just don't get taught these things in school. Which is sad...

Just back from IBM Reno.
Then a week in Vegas.

The advice above worked a treat ( tipping )

Penn and Teller were great, as were many of the
other shows.
Just a shame David Copperfield was so bad.
Maybe He thinks he doesn't need the money
so doesn't care.
Or hey Im David Copperfield ,anything I do will be great.
The baby card selection would be the worst peice of
magic Ive ever sat through.

One of my mentors worked with Copperfield for years he recently went to see him and he said flat out his show wasn't worth a dime. He sat down almost the whole show. He commented ...I wonder if he is SICK. Who knows?

What happened to Lance Burton. I thought his show was very entertaining but mainstream, plus the theatre he performs in is gorgeous.

Oh yeah ,
check out my hometown boy Steve"the fastest hands in the world" Dacri.
Peace Out !
