Hello, I have just started a new project and believe it or not it needs a spring (special, evidently). I have never needed anything other than a spring hinge, which is easy to make. However, this spring holds a small square of wood, that spreads two other pieces apart. I have tried every hardware store in the Metro Phoenix area and they have something close in length but they are too strong. If you stretch the spring out it becomes to weak to hold the pieces together.

Any ideas???
