For those who DO like flourishes, what is your favorite one? Perhaps pointing out one that is not based on the sybil dynamic would be interesting. Also, how you use it in a magic effect would be very nice to know.

The three way false cut done by Brad Christian of ellusionist.com looks really nice and it's practical.

My absolute favorite flourish is the hotshot cut. I also like the one handed shuffle, super duper cut, and I'm in the middle of learning Instant Replay.

There are hundreds of non sybil based flourishes. Here are some of the greatest ones:
Sky Sweeper Double crossed 4 packet (and 5 packet) cobras with air switch fire spin and put out (my specialty) double spinning armspreads with catch upside down swinging card spring, 3-4 foot spring whips one handed free standing card houses one handed card house displays on back on hand, doubles with connections. double upside down blind-folded arm spreads with catch head spin card executor one armplant display 2 deck 30 packet display (all separate, no stacking) the http://www.superhandz.com site has 15, all non sybil based. Here are some of the nice categories the experts use in flourishes: elementals (my specialty) free standing disadvantage foot and hand combos aerial inverted work motion work There is much more to flourishes than sybil variants. People seem to get stuck in it, most of the experts I know only use one sybil (usually De'vo's best one using 3 principles seldom used in flourishes)... but is the greatest ever! Most flourish aritsts that I know who do this professionally, don't combine it with magic. Thank you, Yoseph/kathy |

I like the cut by De'vo and Cap Casino. And I am practicing Cap Cuts and Cobra Cut now. They are definitely killing me.

Mine would have to be either the one hand shuffle, revolution Deal, butterfly cut, or Russian shuffle.
I like cards.

The moves I mentioned are not in Jerry's book. I learned them from burg sessions with other experts, and invented through a kind of brainstorming event.
As far as I know, the moves are not attainable through the U.S., although I heard the legendary De'vo is putting together 2 books, but no master flourishes will be printed. His concept sybil type will be in it, as well as 4 packet cobra and a bunch more.... but besides those 2, none of the above mentioned. As far as I know. I don't think he has finished it yet. The Master flourishes are handed down or taught between expert and student, much like magic used to be. Masters as we know them, agreed not to pass them around like candy, and even won't put them on video for people to analyze. Jerry's book, from what I hear, is very good. A lot of good material from basic to expert. I hope I've answered your questions, Thank you, Yoseph |

To look at, the wind elementals are all really cool. My personal favorite to perform is De'vo's Flipback. I use it with just about anything from cards to calculators, (smaller ones) and there are so many variations. One very cool one is holding a pack of cards in each hand (maybe of different color) forcing two selected cards to the bottom, and doing the cut where the cards shoot out and catching each card in the other packet.

I'm working on it. It's taking a lot of time because of my short fingers. I'll get it eventually.
Who is John Galt?
