When one says magic kits, the instant impression that floods into my mind is a box with a number of one piece wonders that have a printed leaflet abstractly explaining their performance. This may not necessarily be a bad thing as there are good and bad magic kits buts it’s just my immediate impression. This reasoning maybe partly influenced by the fact that my experience with magic kits has been limited or non existent and my main focus has been drawn to the written word of books. After all, it is common advice given that books are the better choice over tricks and the more value for money. Then imagine to my surprise when I come across a magic kit that has three magic books in it, 3 coins, handkerchiefs and a deck of cards.
The Kit is called: Magic: Astounding Magic Tricks That You Can Do in a Flash. The three books are by the one and only Karl Fulves in his ever so popular Self working series. Having read his Self-Working Card Trick book (which appeared in the kit) and some of his other publications I’m satisfied in saying that this kit would be of the highest quality. Table of contents for each book can be seen on the publisher’s site and it’s important to note as well that each volume in the kit can be purchased separately. The Kit: http://store.doverpublications.com/0486440656.html Self Working Card Tricks: http://store.doverpublications.com/0486233340.html Self Working handkerchief Magic: http://store.doverpublications.com/0486261794.html Self Working Coin Magic: http://store.doverpublications.com/0486261794.html The issue of self working effects have been an issue for some magicians in that many believe that there is no glory in performing no-brainer effects, but I personally believe the benefit of self working effects help in making your focus available for other aspects of your performance. What is not put into heavy practice methodology is instead placed into presentation. The other good thing to is that if money for magic is limited and you can’t buy that Royal Road to Card Magic or the Mark Wilson’s Complete Course in Magic then this would be a cheap alternative for Beginners. I have found all of Karl Fulves self working series to be excellent amd I believe I have everyone in my library, not a collectible book, but full of great material at a very reasonable price. You cannot go wrong.

The effect is the important thing, how you achieve it is not.......
