This looks good, but a little sleight-of-handish.
Looks similar one of the effects just released by Paul Harris too. except his is done with a pen

Not a bad thing if that's the effect you want. Not a bad thing at all.

Hey Eric,
I also would like to point out that Eric has a Flash Coins Routine that is the Bee's Knees. It was published in Antinomy. I highly recommend it. Later taters, Robert Moreland |

Eric's video clips don't do him justice. The clips are great, but having known Eric for years now, I can say he's one of the finest coin magicians I've ever seen. His technique is amazing and he uses a lot of things that most people overlook. He will entertain you, no doubt. Not fool you, entertain you. And a super nice human being with a love of magic that you rarely see. He's so concerned about credits, he goes above and beyond to make sure he's not duplicating anyone elses work, which, again, seems to be lacking in todays world.
Keep up the good work Eric- Steve

Eric,
I think I've lost count of how many times I've watched this video, not to count how many times I've seen you perform it live for others. My friend I must say, it looks better every time I see it...Nice work! You'll probably yell at me for saying this but, if my coin work looked half as good as yours I'd be happy LOL... Take it easy man... Bill |

Eric,
I had the pleasure of seeing you perform this last November in NJ and have to say that as good as it looks on video, it is even more impressive "live". Or as quoted above and immortalized by Frank Barone "Holy Crap!" Gary |

Hello Eric,
In his "ring thing" DVD, Garrett Thomas published some ideas regarding the karate coin using his "fingers" work. You sent me your Tai-chi coin routine quite a while ago. I don't want to make a fuss about it, but were you inspired by Garrett Thomas' work while building-up the routine, or did you get there by a different way? I just ask to know, since I was absolutely amazed by the clip you sent me, and then I saw some similar things a few weeks ago on Thomas' DVD... Bye, Jonathan. |

I think that is up for debate. I sessioned briefly with Mr. Thomas a couple of years back after a lecture he gave in Maryland. I'd always been a huge fan of his work and decided to show him something I'd developed using the "finger switch" concept that he'd refined in his Ring Thing effect based on a much older thimble move. We were both very liberal with the material that we showed one another and I even went so far as to ask permission to use 2 of the flourishes that he shared with me. I still use them today. The Karate Coin, as I perform it, was one of the things I shared with him of my own along with some flipper coin work. He seemed to like it.
I'm still not completely sure what the situation is just yet. I haven't a clue whether or not Mr. Thomas remembers our session, or if he came up with it on his own, or what. I do know that I've done MY homework on the subject, and have credited him for the actual finger switch. I also know that my handling is a bit more refined. The magic is "isolated" in one spot, apparently NOTHING moves but one finger as it penetrates the coin. I'll refrain from pointing fingers (with or without gimlets on them....lol) until I've spoken to all parties involved to get to the bottom of things. Jonathan P., thank you so much for bringing it up and I'll get you an answer as soon as I have one..... Eric

Thanks a lot. I am glad to see you didn't take my post as a "pointing finger" and that it is possible to raise those questions without feeling "accused" or "angry" or in a psycho-drama mood.
I am not feeling as a "credits policeman" but as I enjoy the routine since you showed it to me (video clip) quite a while ago, and since I saw Garrett Thomas' DVD, I wanted to know more about it for myself. Cheers, Jonathan. |
