What would you guys recommend as the best way to learn a person's thought of number while on stage? I used to use a thought transmitter in close-up situations but I am afraid that the stage lighting won't allow that. After I learn the number I will go into a Magic Square revelation. Would you recommend a center tear? What is the most reliable and convincing method? Thanks

Obviously there are many methods, such as pyscholgical forcees, centre tearss, peak devices, impresion device. My favourite is pre show a la Andy Nymans. But you have to use the method you are most comfortable witth and that will vary from mentalist to mentalist.

Yes. It's a force, but the scripting is esentially Max Maven's from 'Four Sided Triangle'. Brian, are you not familiar with clipboards?

Yes that's it (the one with the jaws film) I think.

Yep, I think that's the one. 'Deep Red Prediction' - the only effect on the DVD that he uses pre-show for (to force the film). That kind of pre-show and real time scripting can be combined to create some very powerful mentalism.

I thought he ment Nyman's thoughts on pre-show as in Fight Dirty. Using the CT.

I don't see why the Thought transmitter wouldnt work on stage There is a lot of light this make the peek a little more undetectable.Just remember to stare at the person while you get your peek.

Larry Becker has a great method of pre-show that he recently tipped at his lecture. The brilliant thing about it is that the assisting spectator can swear that he only 'imagined' writing something with an 'invisible' pen (not that this spectator should have a chance to mention anything that alludes to pre-show). Just know that this person is just as amazed as the rest of the audience.

That kind of comment is primarily to highlight your knowledge of certain aspects of mentalism and not really to help the question. linking muscle reading to find out a thought of number, to then link in with a magic square presentation would be horrid and illogical, not to mention the fact it would be a complete long winded way, this type of routine would need a quick and instant gathering of the number in order to progress on the apparent revelation in the form of a MS ways to do this would be ...
Real Time clipboard - with some spec management simple pre- show work with a billet or carbon device or link the number into a previous effect ie the age of someone that is apparently not known to you |

Hi just a simple billet peak would be fine, ive used Richard Busch's Legendary billet of el zorro right in front of everyone then done the Magic square. Also a peek wallet would be just as good and even ( depending where you stand with cards ) after a card effect you could force or use a stack with 3 or 4 people, ask them to remove a card and don't show anyone, do the square ask a 5th person to come up and add all the numbers in different colums then ask the 4 spectators to add there 4 cards together and whala you got it.

If a billet peak is enough I really like Docc Hilfords Dance of Shiva as it seems so uncomprimising to keep it in view and not tear it up before you peak. This may be more relevant for close up though.

Dance of SHiva - The main fault is that even though the billet is visible all the time, you cannot hand it back to the spectator. WHich to me is illogical. And how did you learn the peek? I tried my best but couldn't learn it from the manuscript. The illustrations were bad as discussed in the review forum.
I would recommend an impression pad. There are so many ways of doing an impression pad. I would suggest a cheaper but effective way like discussed elsewhere in the forum like the ideas of Sean Fields and Lord of Horses. May I also recommend Acidus Novus. Acidus Novus can be used to get the number as well as other details and at the same time hand the billet back to the spectator.
To believe is Magic.

The drawings were hopeless but I got the method from just trying it a few times. I also built the problem part into the routine . I had a reason to give them back half at the end so I tore it then.
I will look up those other references though inc. the review. Thanks. |

Nothing wrong with a NW, but the original first post mentioned he wanted to utilize the info to go into a magic square... not the most practical use for a NW, I'm sure you agree

See Richard Osterlind's peek on Mind mysteries volume one or any of the Richard Busch peeks or any other center tear routine. Also Banachek has some great subtleties for handling the billet.
