Bro Paul, Im happy to glue it up for you if you want to send it back, no problem. Like I said I support my work religiously. I think the one you are describing is cherry wood. It has a dark figure in the grain and looks almost burned if it the ones Im thinking about. I only had enough of that particular wood for two wands.

I have a similar one about ready to send out to Mario. It's made of walnut with a brass ferrule at each end. Between you too guys I should get the feedback I need to get my wands bullet proof!!!

Duck, thanks for the pics. You may be on to something here!!!!

Well, I don't know if you were intending to be "funny" or not but I admire creativity and art. My work is much more traditional, but that may well be a product of age (I am almost 60) and what I was exposed to as a younger man as well as my own personal likes and dislikes. Also, I believe in supporting art for art's sake.

Best wishes,

Ilaugh at it now, but I did try, so I wasn't trying to be funny. Not very good at "interperating" (spelling?) post and such if you know what I mean.

Hey Tabman, can I ask a question? How much does a simple custom wand with wood tips usually cost? Thanks -CR

- Mario -

sorry for the delay but my 85 year old mum who drives like jeff gordon (one foot on the gas and the other on the brake at full speed) had a car crash two weeks ago and totalled out her car, another car and a power pole. She's ok I think now and Im back at the shop working for a few days before heading back down south to check on her again. I expect to be shipping that new wand to you next week

Use it in good health.

I recently was given a wand that is made of hickory, stained mahogany, and tipped with 30-06 shell casings. Man it is pretty! The casings have been polished and the entire thing is incased in polyurethane. The guy gave to me for teaching him a C&B routine. He's actually talking about mass producing them and marketing them on the internet. I'll post a picture of it as soon as I can put it down!
I am truly blessed to have a job where people are laughing all the time and everyone believes in magic....Come to think of it, I'm blessed to even have a job.

And I have been making bullet wands for 20 years. I recently released a series of them on the Genii Forum and since then I've heard of at least four "makers" who intend to market this type of wand.

The idea isn't new of course, or my original thought. I got my original inspiration from handling Willard The Wizard's shell casing tipped wand when I was repairing some of the Ellison Collection at Dave Price's Egyptian Hall Museum.

It just strikes me as humerous. Last year I got an email from a gent in the midwest who was asking lots of questions about casino chip magic. He told me he had gotten the idea to make some for sale from a set he had purchased from Hocus-Pocus who was my exclusive dealer at the time. How did he know to get in touch with me? Well, the set he purchased was made by me.

Ideas aren't cheap - they're free. It's an exciting world out there.

Y'all may want to check out the Moffett wands that Denny and Lee Magic Studio sells.

Jason Moffett makes them from solid bars of aluminum. Pretty neet. The aluminum looks and feels great. It is durable, but seems to be just soft enough not to put a hole in your brass cups every time you give them a little wack. There are also a bunch of different designed tips that are pretty cool, and all of them are limited, and numbered. I have used the "workers" model for several years, and love it. I don't recall them being super expensive either. Give Denny a call,I still think he has some.

Thanks mucho for letting me know. By putting that extra work into the oiled finish of the wand you're reaping the benefits of an age old finishing process. Lots of light coats hand rubbed into hard wood is difficult to match any other way. Imagine how timeless it will look a year of two from now. It becomes a collaborative work between the two of us. Your investment in time makes us partners in this individual work of art, a one of a kind.

Thanks for appreciating my small offerings and participating in the continuation of the process,

All the best,

Mario, they whould be across in a few days. I think they went out the first of the week. If you break them in action, and I know you're a hard worker, I'd appreciate some feedback and if you snap one of them - one walnut, one tiger cherry - I'd appreciate your sending it back to me so I can take a look and see where to go from here. It will be interesting to see how long the tips stay on. If they come iff, next time I will bolt them on or try something else.

Good luck with their use and keep me posted,

Hi Tabman

I have received my wands and they are beautiful, the craftsmanship is of a very high standard. I used the longer of the tow this past Saturday it really looks the part.

You really have made me an unbreakable wand, it is so thick.
That is great when I balance a pack cards on one end on my chin, but it does make it harder to conceal a ball in one hand while I am doing cups and balls.

I do appreciate that was your aim to make me an unbreakable wand, and that your regular wands are not so thick.

There is one thing for sure when I walk home from gig I now am seriously armed.

These are great wands, ones I will cherish, I will build a working relationship with them and let and keep you posted.

If anyone is looking for a wand that is made with true care for the art of Magic and the Magician then look no further than Tabman a true craftsman.
