MacGyver:

I did this effect last year for the first time with just the knowledge of the special rope tie(very easy), and items I scavenged for at my parents house.

As Harry said, you can get this tie from several sources: Daryl's Expert Rope, Tarbell V6, Hull's 33 Rope Ties & chain releases(p19), Fulves' Self Working Rope magic. (the New Encyclopedia or rope magic does not have this exact version)

Thanks for the links. I was trying to make sure if the Gysel Spirit Tie was the tie that Arian Black did on the Steve Harvey shoe.

Got a question, I got the Tarbell course in an ebook form. Under what name is the rope tie under? I can't seem to find it.

As Ed Sullivan used to say, it must have been a really big shoe.

As far as e-Tarbell, the ebooks are "true" to the original mail order version of Tarbell, not the bound versions (which apparently are an expanded set). There is some overlap, but there is no easy way to correlate the effects across the media type. More specifically, I don't think the eLybray version has the Gysel tie.

Further, although I love books, there are some ties that are difficult to learn from the diagrams in books (e.g.; Kellar rope tie), but the Gysel can be easily learned from a book.

Thanks for the clarification. I was starting to get really upset. Funny though, I haven't had any problems learning effects from diagrams. I guess it is my puzzle obessed mind.

Hehe.... I had my girlfriend tie me up following the instructions from a YouTube version by Arian Black. Suffice to say we got it. But thanks everyone.
