I have seen these come up on e bay fairly infrequently and I don't think they are still manufactured anywhere (perhaps with the exception of Alan Warner)
I have found some nice egyptian sarcophagi(sp??) and would like to try my hand at making my own. Has anyone here in the Café attempted this? Any chance of sharing some experience? The effect is basically the transfer of a mummy from one sarcophagus into the other without any visible means of manipulation? Any ideas would be most welcome? Simon PM me to avoid any exposure issues |

Richard Gerlitz released his Mystic Mummy 2 years ago. He obtained the sarcophagus and mummy online and put them through his modifications to release his version of this classic effect.

Thanks guys, I'm pretty sure I'll not be able to recreate the Gerlitz workmanship but I think I have a better idea now of how to go about it. One of the most difficult things I find with this type of "precision work" is the need for the specialised tools.
Simon I got in touch with Richard Gerlitz and he was extremely helpful. He's given me some more info on the "mystic mummies". I started construction two days ago and things are looking good. Hopefully the project will go off with few hiccups. Simon Update: July 17 2005 Well it took just over a month to do but I've completed the project. Works like a dream. I had to go out and buy some tools but in the end I think well worth the time and money, not to mention chaeper than the $1500 for one that a collector was selling. I can never match Richard Gerlitz's quality workmanship but I do think they turned out ok. Thanks to all who gave me a helping hand. Simon |
