Hi everyone I ordered this tape last week and I finally got it last night and watched most of it. Let me first say that it is not what you expect from Lennart Green, if you have seen is first 6 videos. This is all self working magic. Their is only one slight required and that is for the Eye of Stonehenge. I beleive in is third tape he mentioned is work in mathematics and in this tape he goes into more detail about that work which helps to setup the routine.
Most of the reviews that I have seen on this forum get into great detail but I am going to keep this short. Fractured - is a nice intro and could be used as an ice breaker into your routine. Rainman - is Simon Aronson effect that he (Simon Aronson) let him use in the video, a great prediction effect that requires a little setup. 4 aces squared - is an effect based on a math concept that you could build a whole routine with. Stolen Cards - is a gemini twins effect from Allan Ackerman, which if I remember Lennart changes slightly. The eye of Stonehenge - is a completly self working effect that is killer. please keep in mind one of the reasons that it is such a killer is the way that lennart presents it and build up to the end. I know a lot of people don't like to do self working card tricks becuase they think that they are not flashy, but Lennart Green presents them in such way that they are fun to watch. He also mentions Martin Gardner and Nick Trost as a basis for some of his self working magic. Note to self, pick up books by those two mentioned. If you are looking to buy this video in hopes of trying to learn a variation on the snap deal, you won't find it here. If you are looking to add some self-working magic tricks into your routine than this is the video to get. My final rating would be 9/10. like I said in the subject this is a mini review, I am sure thier will be other reviews in more detail. |

$26,000 dollar bet is a shortened version of Aunt Mary's terrible secret.
Dragon's Pearl I have not watched yet since my DVD was having problems with this section and I just got the DVD last night and did not try in a differnt player. Stonehenge is a trick the more I think about it the more that I like it. I first saw the performance and had to leave and thought about the method and I always figured sleight of hand as the method and had to remind myself that sleight of hand is not involved. There is one sleight, but it is so easy. This trick uses excellent camaflouge and would be a great effect if a deck of cards is tossed at you with the request of doing a trick since no setup is involved and the spec can shuffle the cards to their hearts content. 4 Aces squared has a lot of potential as well and would work well setup as a challenge situation. All in all I am very happy with this DVD, and as stated above, if you have Lennarts other DVD's there is a huge difference between this one and the others. These tricks are easy to learn if you have been exposed to the principles involved. After sitting through one viewing, I could do the effects and was able to do stonehenge before he finished his explanation. And I was cooking dinner at the same time. Great effect and has a lot of potential. Be warned that a good story line will make this trick and a bad one can break it. Dave |

I also was having problems with my DVD so I could not see the end of the Dragon's Pearl. I also have to add that I think Stonehenge and John Bannon's Timely Departure are to of the best self working tricks you could ever do. I also agree with petersd that the 4 Aces squared has a lot of potential. A great example would be if you do kid's shows you could use go fish cards or memory cards and the kids would get a great kick out of this.

Finished watching the green lite and my favorite were rain man and the eye of stonehenge.
I agree with dave. I want to see how people perform this trick effectively. got a great idea for presenting this trick already and doesn't have to do with stonehenge or egypt. a bad presentation can ruin this trick. anyone wanna share/trade their ideas? then shoot me a pm. |

The74rock,
You bring up a great idea on sharing presentational ideas. I am struggling with that at the moment as well. Dave |

Just a side note that if you are looking for another self working card trick you should check out the Whispering Card from Steven Youell which you can get on Cogitations. I started playing around with this and I believe this to be a very strong card trick. The presentation is easy to develop as well. This would be an excellant trick when confronted to show me a card trick.

Could anyone describe the effect of stonehenge?

Its real hard to explain this trick. its a self working trick that uses a stonehenge theme. but I will try to explain it. you deal some cards out, pick it and put the card back into the deck. the card is lost in the deck while the performers back is turned around. the spectator then mixes up the cards. the performer finds your card by a locator card.
like I said its hard to explain the effect, you just have to buy it and watch it yourself. |

Just perform stonehenge for both magicians and laymen and have gotten great reactions to the trick.

Any more reviews of this DVD? It seems like there was a flurry of excitement when it was first announced but very little information since.

The aronson effect is his take on shufflebored. nothing earth shattering he throws in some rosetta shuffles. stonehenge for me was one of the weaker effects. I mean that plot is pretty convoluted. good for magis...not sure about laymen..havent tried it. My first impression is that it is a clever method but way too complicated of a plot. I liked the Ace trick. Especially with his introduction that was not explained (where he produces the four aces twice). Nice stuff. Dragon Pearl was boring. Will never think of doing that one. Stolen Cards is a VERY GOOD twist on the Ackerman routine. Four climaxes...killer trick. Fractured logic isn't a card trick but can be put to good use in corporate presentations. $26000 bet is ok too. Too much dealing etc but a nice take on a familiar principle as used in Williamson's Aunt Mary's Terrible Secret.
Pretty good DVD. I think Stolen Cards is the most commercial thing on there. Probably why he is marketing it on hocus-pocus. |

I like this DVD. The Rosetta shuffle is put to good use here. The deck appears to be a complete mess after this shuffle. If you were to mess the deck up any more than this, you would probably be doing 52 card pickup. It is hard to believe everything turns out alright after the Rosetta shuffle.
Rain Man: My favorite effect on the DVD. A multi prediction effect with an extra kicker. You allow the spec(s) to use any shuffle. THEN there is the Rosetta shuffle. Your spec(s) then watch you mess things up a bit more. I will definitely be using this. 4 Aces Squared: I like this one too. Lennart provides alternative revelations. $26,000 Bet: I enjoyed this one. Sort of a OOTW effect. The Rosetta shuffle which is also employed here, makes the outcome seem even more mind-boggling. Stolen Cards: Another nice effect. Stonehenge & Dragon Pearl: I agree with what Dave posted about these two. These are my least favorites. |

I definitely would not use $26000 Bet as an OOTW type of effect even though Lennart does give this as an option. Wayyyy too complicated for that plot. It is a nice shortened version of Terrible Secret. If that plot appeals to you then go for it. And in Rainman I would not handle the deck after the rosettas. In other words, doing that double slop shuffle puts emphasis on how the magician handled the cards which is the thing you definitely DON'T want to happen. Just my opinion on that trick. Otherwise another nice variation of ShuffleBored.
