I have been thinking a lot lately about stage/stand-up magic and I came upon an idea which I am really excited about, using a concept that makes sense.
I see all these flaming objects, and they don't make sense. Sure you can explain it away with a joke: "The money's just burning a hole in my pocket" or "This is a hot new book on the market" etc... but you're really just getting reactions because people like fire. So I went to my local thrift store and picked up an old toaster, gutted it, left one side with the working toast ejection mechanism, the other with the electronic components from the flaming book, with the button on the back of the toaster. I use it in a card routine where you draw a fork on the back of someone's card and put the deck in a toaster. The plug goes with an extension cable offstage, but there's no actual electricity. The deck goes in, flames burst out, the deck pops out all burnt except for one card...you know the rest...or I place bread in it and toast comes out with a card burnt into the toast, which just happens to be their card. Any suggestions, Ideas? And what other flaming objects can you think of that make sense? |

Being a bizarrist/halloween nut, I would never have a problem justifying a flaming book.
A few evil incantations and whoof, a plume of fire shoots up from the pages. That's even better with the flaming bible - blashphemy ! BTW, I like your idea, it's novel, and as far as I know, original. Very creative of you !

Thanks for the compliments.
Haha flaming bible, I like it. That should be under gospel magic. Heh Heh Heh *Evil Laughter* By the way, I know a website you might like, the Gene Poinc Memorial Website. I don't know if you've been there or not but if you haven't, check it out! It's got full patter and very bizarre stories. http://thelearnedpig.com.pa/magos/poinc/index.html If it asks you for a password ( I don't know why it would, but because it's connected to a password protected site, either you can apply for membership, or contact me and I'll see if I can help you out.) |

Marko probably password protected the whole site becuase it's just more simple, administratively. I have membership tho, thanks.
online-visions.com and dragonskull.co.uk are great sites for bizarre routines as well, if you're interested. Flaming bible is not my idea, BTW: http://www.fabmagic.com/Products/Gospel/flamingbible.htm but I do want one of these !
