I recently received this trick and I am very happy with it. It is something you can always carry with you. Highly recommended

The small notebook is handed to the spectator, and she/he is asked to find her/his astrological sign, and to write her/his name, and without making any question, you can tell her/his astrological sign, then she/he spots in the numbered pages her/his date of birth, write in the year and circle it, and the magician, without any question, will tell her/him the exact day and month of birth.
also, each day has the value of a card, so you may relate it with another mentalism card trick. I carry at my pocket all the time, to reset I need 30 seconds, and help me to establish a nice connection between me and the spectator. Also, there are is a new system: erase reading is very easy to do, direct and the props are beautiful. |

Sounds like an interesting effect. Two questions:
1) How big is the notebook? 2) Does the spectator write in the notebook or on a seperate piece of paper? TIM |

The notebook is 4 x 3 inches (+ o -) (so you can keep at your pocket) the spectators write in the notebook, with a pencil, so is easy to erase later.
the method is very clever. GUEF |

Can I ask if the notebook is standard, as in easily replaced, or will you be buying another when the pages are used up?

Hi, I am marino, I got the trick a week ago (and now I am going to buy another one for a friend of mine) the notebook is not easily replaced, and also the pages are printed in full colors, so is not a page that you get at the market, but is made with paper of very good quality. (is not thin)
And you have to write with a pencil, so to reset you should erase the written name, I have used more than 25-30 times and is as new (I have been at a party, and I used all night long), I think the notebook can be used many, many times, so you should not have to worry about the durability (I do not care about that). I hope it help you. Guefgo: What do you think about the method? |

I think the method is great, erase reading is a very interesting mentalism tool.

One problem with this effect:
If I remember correctly (and I only looked at it for a moment) "Aquarius" is misspelled "Acuarius." That seems like a major flaw. I've read enough magic books that are rife with typos, but I wouldn't want a prop with such a blatant typo.

It is true, there are some spelling mistakes, (but nobody cares about these mistakes) and I think the spelling mistakes are not important for the trick.

I do agree with Mysterium. If I read a typo in a book I don't care, but a typo on a prop, no way.

At the book, "mind, myth & magick" by Waters. There is a trick which is called SIGNSE, (You have a spectator think of his or her zodiac sign, and you call off various letters of the sign as they come to you in scrambled fashion, ultimately you name the sign.)
Is Signse similar to Astrological sign? <IMG SRC="/forums/images/smiles/batmoon.gif"> |

No, "Signse" is closer to the "real thing". Ask Doug Dyment. The better the presentation, the more "wallop" for the effect. (I also have the T. A. Water's book). And Doug Dyment's excellent "Sign Language". Check out his website.

Hi eize and johnjesbit:
I disagree that "signse" is closer to the "real thing", I think signse is a nice trick, but is not an unbelievable trick. (I have been doing signse for a long time, but by phone or chating at the computer, also, I used to do signse on a magical radio show) but I think astrological sign is much better. No question at all, and you tell the Zodiac sign and exact month and day of the spectator's birth. I would like to know your opinion. regards |
