Thomas,
In the Osterlind system, why do you bother having the card returned to you? Isn't that an unnecessary step and a potential point of suspicion? BTW, thanks to the Lorayne memory course, it's been no problem for me to make up a deck of *100* drawable items. --Josh |

When retturnign the card I meant to do it just as a side action. But I agree with you. I should add that I just don't have it returned every time. It just was a suggestion. After selecting the card you just can let the cards on the table where they were. I just wanted to point out that with the correct wording you can make them forget at the end that they even did select the image from cards. The idea with memorizing up to 100 cards is good. Thomas |

I have posted a routine using the ODDS principle in my blog at:
http://www.osterlindmysteries.com/blog/ It really takes care of the few objections I have seen posted here. Please take a look. Richard |

Just read your routine in your blog Richard. Great thinking. Since I love your watch routine and perform it regularly in my show I already loved reading your descriptions. It will go right into my act since it perfectly fits in to a multi phase mind reading routine.
BTW because you mentioned that many missed ODDS in Essays. I didn't miss it and after interestingly reading your brilliant advices in Essays I was pleasantly surprised that you included this wonderful routine in the same ebook. One of the best investments on books I've made so far. Your description of a word leading to picture principle also shows your way of thinking not just in single routines but in bigger dimensions. So I'm sure that many mentalists after reading your routine in your blog will also think 'Heck, why didn't I come up with this' Great thinking. Thanks for sharing this with us. Greetings from a rainy Vienna Thomas |

Cougar261084, I think you might have been misled about the ODDS. It's NOT about the cards. The cards are used to steer the spectator away from drawing something too simple and ambiguous (is it a ball, a coin, a planet, a faceless Smiley Face?...)
And the spectator DOES draw an image. THAT's the point. They have a free choice as to how to draw it (and a free choice as to WHAT to draw in the alternate handling featured in Essays and Richard's Blog). This gives you the opportunity to do a SIMULTANEOUS duplication, without any pre-show work. I also find it's a lot of fun to perform. Give it a try and you'll see. |

I was considering purchasing the SUC (if I can find one) for another effect I do. I heard the SUC can be used as a peek wallet. Could I do a drawing dupe with a SUC? Thanks!

You could, but the peek area is limited. It's not the ideal peek wallet for this effect.

Worth also looking at is Morley Buddens Post It Parapsychology....
(Please don't say someone already mentioned that because I have not read every post in this thread and I don't want anyone turning up at my house with a large heavy object...):P |

Sorry one more question, its half of the card vertically NOT lengthwise right? Meaning I would see the part filled with p's correct?
Thanks so much for your help! [ppppppp] [ppppppp] [ppppppp] [ppppppp] [xxxxxxxx] [xxxxxxxx] [xxxxxxxx]

The method with using the cards is one heck of a clever way to using the principle though. I have made my own set up (in Norwegian of course, it would look funny if I used cards with English words here) and the couple of times I have tested it out for friends, ODDS really played very strong. If you read Essays or get the marketed ODDS, you will see that there are no limits whatsoever if you use the PRINCIPLE. Look up Richard's blog! If you do not have Essays or ODDS, I would recommend to get one of them to get the indepth discussion on this principle. Sven

It's a little more than half, more like 2/3. I've used the SUC for drawing dupes many times and never had a problem. If you want to restrict their drawing area, that's easy enough to do, but IMO there's no need. You don't have to see every detail as long as you can tell what it is that they drew.
Every problem contains the seeds of its own solution. Unfortunately every problem also contains the seeds of an infinite number of non-solutions, so that first part really isn't super helpful.

Cool thanks! Now the difficult problem of finding a SUC .
