OK, you can conceal this device easily behind a curtain etc. Have a fog machine blow fog into an ordinary soap and water bubble. This little contraption looks EXACTLY like a solid steel ball. Although in order to keep it afloat you would need air. Waving your hands would do fine and you could do it comically and frantically for laughs or somehow have a fan concealed on you. I have tried it looks great.

Ooohhhhh, I see what you mean about the leverage and frantically masking the fog machine if its too tight to go over the curtain in the proper starting position. But you have to take into consideration the pressure factor in different venues whose steel balls differ from dust machine to fog machine. Just make sure the fan is on 27 and you will achieve the desired effect.. Keep it up!!!!!!!

If you'd done your research, you'd know that this is my signature piece. I open with it comically and close with a more dramatic version (hidden fan). It ALWAYS gets the STRONGEST response imaginable to ANY magician EVER.

Wouldn't it be easier to just make a steel ball float for real?

Wow! That's cool! Josh, do you have a picture or a video of this effect somewhere? Do you have to worry about it "spontaneously disappearing"?

I was joking back in march. The original post was written very differently than it appears now. In fact it didn't make any sense. That's why the responses ranged from Huh? to Eric's over the top points. I don't know what's going on, but I've noticed a lot of time travel taking place around here. It's nice for clarity but is really confusing the context.

Hmmmmm..........I am confused... the initial post didn't make sense at all..and we were joking around talking gibberish..(at least that's what I thought was happening) It dated from a year ago and we ressurected it..
now it makes sense and its not fun anymore!! lol.. now OUR posts are made to look like the messed up ones.. and not the original one... I wonder what happened..magic |

LOL Right, you got me. I didn't even notice the date of the original post. It was all new to me.
At first, I was thinking, "Nah, that wouldn't look like a steel ball". Then, Eric's post actually made it seem credible to me (especially after the Vanishing AC thread, which I followed closely). When I read it, I just assumed there was some "behind the scenes" PM dialog and, maybe, a little "up front" misdirection/humor. Then Josh's post--that was the one that really got me. I started thinking, "Well, maybe, on stage, with the right lighting...maybe a red spotlight..." Driving home tonight, I was thinking about stopping off to pick up some bubbles and a pack of smokes, just to try it. I was even thinking about one of those battery operated fans hidden in my sleeve... I'm glad I decided to wait until I'd seen the pictures.
